I've never heard of cans of pop for Halloween. Doesn't seem very practical to carry around in a bag.

There was always that one kid in the locker room who had anxiety when some parent brought in timbits. I'm not allowed to have sugar!!! But no, mommy (has to be mommy) has some gluten free oat snacks. Emaciated little translucent skinned crappy hockey player. All the other kids having glazed or sprinkle schit donuts. But not her protest to the world prince.
Why is Tryshcntan having anxiety?
Fata I wish you could short humans and bet on therapists because they would be the top of the list.

I've got a chart plotting kids and weather each year. So I've got a good idea of how much candy to buy. My problem this year is my wife really wants to go low-waste. Her suggestions is just to buy cans of pop, which can be recycled. My issue with that is as a parent I hate it when my young child gets a whole can of pop. That is just way too much to consume in one shot and it gets heavy to carry. On the other hand, the kids that are way too old to trick or treat love it.

Is your wife like my wife where she worries about this stuff, but also buys too many random consumer products, many of which gather dust after a little while?
For her concern this year, I'd try to go with Smarties or other candy that comes in cardboard packaging

Those don’t get recycled with how much high quality cardboard the world already can’t handle
Just send your wife some YouTube’s about the recycling industry so she can stop worrying since either way she make no affect from her Halloween candy choices

No but it will biodegrade, eventually contributing a few grams of CO2 (I hear it's great!) to the atmosphere. Plastic will be around much longer and find a way to get microscopic bits into the food chain.
But I agree it isn't worth fussing over much, as the best choice is always to just consume less.

You could apportion the pop into smaller, recyclable baggies. Seems like a win for everyone.

Any malls have stores giving out candy this weekend? I have some little ones in town and would like to take them tomorrow.

Hopefully not, Halloween doesn’t belong in a mall.

Yes but they are only in town a few days so I thought it would be something fun. Sometimes stores give out candy all week.

When was the last time you saw a store in the mall giving out Halloween candy all week?

Geez - tough crowd. Seemed like a fairly harmless question.
Ironically, my dentist was giving out candy when I went there last week, so I wouldn't be shocked if some stores are doing so.

Are Lifesavers not available anymore? Not the disgusting gummy ones, but the original hard Lifesavers.
I can't even find the bags of individually wrapped candies anymore, except for mint, and was hoping I could find them this Hallowe'en.
Asking for the neighbourhood children, of course.

It's my first year buying pumpkins! I found two really great, gnarly looking pumpkins that I hoping to use after Halloween (pumpkin paste, seeds, etc). Do you pumpkin / jack-o-lantern folks bring yours in at night? I'm not sure how hardy they are, will frost or lower night temps damage them?

This will be the first Halloween in the 27 years we have lived in Calgary that we won't be handing out candy or doing anything. Kids are grown and nobody will be home until mid evening so no point really. Last year we had less than 10 kids anyhow.
