Interesting Barrie comes out but Coronato stays in. Klapka is better suited for the 4th line, we need Coronato to play more.

Disagree. Adding old bums like Smith, Bertuzzi, Maroon, and Brodie, set back a rebuild, IMO. Having 37 yo plugger, Foligno, on PP1 also doesn't inspire confidence.
I like adding a decent defensive forward, like Teravainen, who we lost, initially, due to bad cap management. (Just as seeing Panarin get 1.4PPG kills me, lost to us, because we overpaid for extensions in the 2010s.)
I still want to see Murphy shipped off, as I see him as little more than a pylon, and would just as soon see youngsters, like Phillips or Korchinski get the playing time.
As far as the game, the 'Hawks are terrible if you dump the puck behind the defense, and retrieve. We give up a ton of high danger chances, and depend on Mrazek to bail the defense out.
Offensively, we are dangerous off the rush, not so much if we have to grind and cycle.
I will be lurking today and will see you all in the GT.

Keep piling up the wins and good vibes and this team might really start believing in itself. I'm going to guess that Vladar gets the start at home tonight.
Edit - wrong as usual, go Wolf!

I would take the entire Flames organization ahead of the Blackhawks, sans Bedard and Rick Ball.
5-1 Flames.

The Hawks are bad, how do you screw the rebuild when you get Bedard.
Flames off to a better start to our rebuild, when we get the higher end talent, I think Conroy has already built a culture and surrounded the team with good vets that we don't need to sign bums like Foligno.

I think Chicago is looking for one more high end draft pick, and then they start pushing with sales of old guys for younger but good talent.

Yeah, Chicago is stockpiling prospects and draft picks, their best long term players (minus Bedard) are still mostly playing the minors.

My one concern with Chicago's rebuild is they only seem to have the one elite piece so far (Bedard) and they have drafted 7 times in the first round in the last 3 drafts.
Tons of runway and the team is still young but they stripped the team almost entirely of talent and they don't seem to have a ton of high end hits just yet.

They got the best dman in the last draft at #2.
Draft picks take a number of years to play in the NHL for the most part. Chicago also picks a number of high end picks that go the college route, and they take longer.
Last 3 drafts?
Well, I'd discount 2024 right off the bat. That's 3 of the 7.
From 2023, Bedard has played. The other is still in college.
And from 2022, Korchinski played all last season, and Nazar was in college and played a few games at the end of the season.
For the most part, those 7 1st round picks are all considered solid prospects.
Prospects take a long time to develop. Anyone that things that Calgary's draft picks over the next few years will be taking Calgary to the promised lands quickly is likely to be disappointed.
I don't think anyone in Chicago is disapponted with their progress.
