that was vicious in a way that to me suggests it goes a bit beyond "haha he hi sticked me and i got mad" and real locker room problems. could be wrong. but after basically taking out his knees Dahlin initiates a fight and wants to continue pummeling the guy.

Agreed, if anything Pelletier could be better offensively with time, Krebs was always overrated in that department, good skater but a complete muffin of a shot.

Pelletier for Krebs makes sense for both teams.

Flames need centre depth, local boy too.

Sabres probably need to keep Dahlin happy, and more importantly, probably need some positivity and optimism in the locker room, enter Mr. Sunshine himself Pelletier.

The camcorder is the most impressive things from this video. Didn't know they were still around!

I'm sure you can go to Youtube and find dozens of videos with teammates fighting in practice. No big deal. Probably happens way more than what is captured on video

Would Krebs clear waivers?

Krebs has never scored goals at any level he's played at, and that may be part of the problem. He needs talented scorers to dish to in order to be successful, but he's not just going to be gifted that opportunity.

At any rate, I've never been a big fan of his as a prospect- but at least he plays with bite, and he's from Calgary.

Given the teams current center depth, I would not be against acquiring Krebs for another generic asset in return. As Judge Smail says in Caddyshack the world needs ditch diggers too. The Flames do need some high end centers for the future. But in the short term they could use a few 4th line types to get them by for a couple years.

You just wonder about the Sabres. Off to a 1-3 start with a recycled head coach that is likely not going to end well. They are just one of those organizations that can't get it right.

13 straight missed playoffs and that time they picked top ten 10 times including twice at 1st overall and twice at 2nd overall.

One of the worst things that happened to Buffalo is that they finally got a first overall pick in the year that the best player available was Owen Power. Is there a more meh first overall pick in the last decade?

I don’t know about “meh”, but it certainly wasn’t a need for them. Imo they should’ve traded it for a king’s ransom. Power logs in some heavy minutes, which is valuable for any team in the league. Also plays both sides if I’m not mistaken.

Lafreniere. Frankly, I'd probably take Power over Slafkovsky too.

The Sabres also got the first pick in 2018 btw (Dahlin).

He's fine but he doesn't do anything particularly elite. I would rank him last in terms of the first overall picks in the last decade.

For me that would be:

1. McDavid
2. Bedard
3. Matthews
4. Jack Hughes
5. Celebrini
6. Dahlin
7. Hischier
8. Salfkovsky
9. Lafreniere
10. Power.

Laf is coming into his own, and Slaf had a pretty impressive run near the end of last year, and has a unique combination of size, skating and skill.
But yea those are the last 3 in my books. But I put Power dead last.

And of course they also got Eichel at #2, which they then proceeded to really eff up.

So it's really a combination of bad luck and incompetence.

Lots and lots of incompetence. They haven't hired a good head coach since Ruff but re-hiring him at this stage of his career is a massive leap of faith.

speaking of Ruff his response to the hit was, boys will be boys. Dahlin was just getting him back for a high stick.

Trying to injure your teammate and immediately jumping him with sucker punches isn't boys will be boys.

I shouldn't have done that now thinking about. Yeah, good on captain.
