This has been Hunt's calling card most of his career. He is what he is at this point and can fill in easily enough in the bottom 6, but no point in investing much into him. You don't want him blocking guys that may need NHL ice time to keep developing.

He is nice to have on reserve though.

Utilization of deuhr under Sutter at peak. Forte imo for Sutter is coaching north south power forward game. It plays in playoffs generally. I personally like the style. Can huska develop our upcoming size?

Duehr was developing a Sean Donovan vibe two years ago.

Now his hands seem to have turned to stone.

Hunt seems like he'd be a good depth piece on a more competitive team. With our current situation it feels like he's just taking a spot from a youngster.

Still on the Donovan vibe - he went from 18 goals to 9, 6, 5, 5, and 2

He needs to work on his Crazy Ivans or he'll torpedo his NHL career.

I feel like you could say that of half the roster right now. A ton of guys who will be long gone if/when this team is competitive again

All of these moves are 'as expected' of course, but Duehr has looked more like 1st season Duehr rather than last season's version of Duehr. Still not as good for some reason, but definitely improved.

Hunt always looks good. He just isn't that difference maker at the NHL level. I do think he is exactly the kind of player you want your kids developing with, however. Great pro and solid in every zone. Enough skill to help your skilled young prospects develop with.

I thought that Tinordi was brought in specifically for the Wranglers anyway to either become the Captain with Brett Sutter retiring and becoming and assistant coach, or at least be big voice in the leadership group. He isn't an NHL player outside of a stop-gap for injuries - and even then, needs to be sheltered - but he is a solid pro with leadership.

Hopefully they all contribute to the Wranglers getting over that hump this year and helping the prospects get better.

Hunt is what he is. He's played more than 31 games exactly once. Doesn't hurt you, but doesn't do much to help, either.

What if Schwindt ends up making the team just because he blended in so much and they kept forgetting to cut him

dude played almost 1000 games and as a non-goon forward topped 10 goals 3 times.

that 18 goal season was outlier central but was pretty fun

Donovan was really fast from what I recall. Duehr is no slouch when it comes to speed, but he doesn't stand out like Donovan did.

I like when the 4th line isn't the least worst and basically filler. It should be guys that offer something different. Size. Crazy fast forecheck. Rats. Whatever. Klapka is perfect.

Ya wasn't really comparing the careers as a whole, just that expectations were probably too high for Duehr after he burst on the scene, and for Donovan after that season, and both fell back down.

Duehr obviously was a guy that responded to Sutter and his style and the role that the coach had for him, and if he had another full year with the former coach who knows, he may have solidified a stronger NHL position.

Zadorov and Gudbranson owe parts of their current cheques to Darryl as well.

Our 4th line might be one of the better lines. Lomberg is actually very good with the puck. Klapka actually has some skill to go with his massive frame. Lomberg and Rooney are both fast. All 3 play physically.
