I thought we could start a gallery of sorts.... Just pictures...
This one I think is my favourite... Rittich already knew Johnny was going to score and win the game.
My entire family and I were at this game sitting in the lower bowl behind the Avs net for this OT winner.
So thrilling and memorable for so many reasons:
First NHL game for our son.
The 4 of us were all decked out in Flames gear head to toe.
Sitting in someone’s season ticket seats with 2 stuffed shirt old fuddy duddies directly in front of us. They decided to leave about 5 minutes before Johnny netted the game winner and we joked about them beating the traffic .
We also had 5 of our close friends and their family with us who happened to be Avs fans and they of course took the defeat in good spirits.
I’ll never forget leaving The Can (was the Pepsi Center at the time) and I was carrying my son on my shoulders as he was tired and a bit overwhelmed by all the people. Part of his Flames gear was a toque and all these Flames fans were rubbing his hat and saying that it was good luck!
My daughter and wife thought it was hilarious, but we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the sick move Johnny made on the breakaway game winning goal in OT directly in front of our seats… it was incredible!!!
Definitely check this video of Johnny's OT series winner. I had never seen it before, it's from a fan high up in the second tier. It captures the true energy in the Dome leading to, during and after the goal in a way I'd never seen before. Didn't realize how loud the crowd was right from the start, long before the goal went in.

Not a picture, but entirely related to this goal
Today I watched Columbus media availability today, and they had Monahan w his first interview... Hard to fathom what he's going through. He had bought a house 3 doors down from Johnny...
Then my son comes home and decides to watch Johnny highlights. They showed the Dallas game 7 ot goal, and I got emotional.
I can't believe how lucky we were to have him. I said this to my son when he left to Columbus too. Watching his highlights with my boy today, just showed how spoiled we were for 9 years.
