More trade / injury insurance but really he's a guy for the AHL.
NHL Locks: 5
Weegar, Andersson, Bean, Miromanov, Bahl
Potential Tweeners/ AHL Veterans: 5 (Keep 2-3 for NHL)
Barrie, Pachal, Hanley, Solovoyov, Tinordi,
Don't Require Waivers: 7 (5 AHL Eligible)
Brzustewicz, Jurmo, Poirier, Grushnikov, Kuznetsov, Parekh (OHL), Morin (QMJHL)
Honestly it really feels to me like one of Andersson or Weegar could get moved sooner rather than later. Or maybe a guy like Hanley ends up back in Dallas.

He should help protect our rookies in the AHL and provide mentorship. But with so many defence, I wonder who will be the odd man out or if there is a trade in play?

Very good chance he will be named captain of the Wranglers
He was captain of the Milwaukee Admirals for a couple of seasons

If you are going to suck you might as well be big.
I like this for the Wranglers though. Plus if Conroy really burns it to the ground and moves out more Dmen he can fill in.

An Oesterle, Gilbert, or DeSimone replacement. Someone who can be called up if any of the prospects are in over their heads and need more time in the minors.

This is likely the key reason. Sutter just retired and finding a replacement established AHL captain is good enough reason to bring Tinordi in for cheap.

I guess having guys with NHL experience is good in case we move bodies out
And if the other team wins on the scoreboard, at least they will leave with some bruises

It's interesting that he hasn't really played much in the AHL over the past few seasons. He looks more like a guy that has stuck with the NHL team, albeit only playing every other game.

Your new Captain of the Wranglers? The way Conny spoke about his leadership and where they want to take the teams attitude seemed to indicate that it's very possible.

Tinordi was captain of the London Knights back when he was in the OHL too. Always been a leader, nice fit for captain of the Wranglers.

I don't see this as that big of a deal. They'll be lots of shuffling in and out and injuries. The Flames need a veteran presence up and down the lineup. Defensive development really relies on mentoring. Tinordi, with his more physical play, outspoken leadership, and willingness to play in a depth role really adds acts as a counterbalance to the other vets we have.
Tinordi is also a bit of a face puncher. The last thing you want is for kids to be taken advantage of.
If Tinordi does end up in the lineup, he's flipped for a 2nd/3rd free of charge.

Would be his 7th NHL team. Carved out a pretty respectable career.

I was very high on Tinordi in his draft year. Reason number 1, 487, 348 that I'm not a scout.
