I doubt this was Conroy passing and more likely Conroy was never approached or didn't know this was on the table.
Nashville probably just approached Pittsburgh and asked if they want a few picks to take on Glass, and Dubas said "sure".

Flames should have beaten Pittsburgh's offer IMO. By a tad.

Celebrated Square Root Day

That's all speculation on your part, I'd be willing to bet that present day the number of trades that go down without the bulk of NHL GM's being informed the player was available is pretty low. Sutter was famous for that back in the day but he was also an absolutely terrible GM, with other GM's expressing shock publicly that Flames players were available after a trade went down.

Again "more likely" that he wasn't approached? Why are GM's handcuffing themselves in a league with 32 teams in it? Like how does that go in the office? "well, maybe other GM's would be interested, but then I'd have....uggh...send out an email stating the player is available and all that jazz. I'll just phone up Pittsburgh and see what they'll do and call 'er a day".

Yeah the Calgary wasn't approached logic doesn't fly. Trotz is looking to cap dump Glass. Why wouldn't he check in with the team with the most cap space in the NHL.
Now as to why the Flames and Preds didn't do this, the most likely answer is that Conroy was asking for more than Dubas was so Trotz went with the Pens.

It’s like when your friend is over, and you’re hanging out in your garage and you mention something in there you’re thinking of getting rid of and your friend asks if they can have it and you’re like sure take it if you want it.
Then your wife says why? we could have got money for that.

All I can get

Maybe Conroy and his staff weren't interested in Glass. While the picks would've been nice, they've already got plenty.
Quite plausible.

What happened to him? There was that vid of him not long ago signing and getting to stay up with the preds that had him in tears.

13 points in 41 games happened.
He's just not that good.

Well he was a good prospect. Then he got a little resurrection in Milwaukee.
I get 13 in 41 isn't great. Why did he flop.

Skating was never great and then had injuries on top of it.
Though not sure why he's never put it altogether to at least some degree.

That whole 2017 draft doesn’t look great, particularly with a lot of the centers drafted.

Injuries have taken their toll as well. He had knee surgery after his rookie season (I think it was), and has dealt with further injuries since then, including more knee problems. I read an article in the last few days where he talked about dealing with depression this season after starting slowly due another knee injury, and shoulder issues as well.
In his draft year, he had it all- he was known for having a high compete level, as well as exerting a sharp two-way game that some compared to Bergeron. He's got size, but has never been overly physical, and has been learning to use his body better. 94 points for Portland in his D year.
