Love it. No care in the world about who the players are or the $ involved; it puts the screws to the Oilers as an organization and I'm always here for that.
Also, is this a veiled shot by Armstrong at Bowman? Offer sheets still are rare because GMs have an agreement amongst themselves, but maybe this has alienated Bowman amongst his peers. As in, "welcome back to the GM club you helped soil by your inaction, now deal with this".
And with the Vanek (which Lowe was told don't bother, we are matching, he did anyways) and Penner, who Burke gladly let go and took picks, the Oilers upset the GM apple cart back then, so having it returned 15-20 years later is just fine.

Does that also mean the players accepted those offers?

If they match, they'll need to move out cap elsewhere. If they don't match, they'll need to replace the players... and have no cap space to do it.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I can't see them not signing the deals. Raises, and you get to leave Edmonton?

Yes if it has gotten to the point the team has 7 days to match the offer, the players have signed the offer sheets.

Yes. They have signed the contracts. Those will be their contracts for the next two seasons, the only question is whether they'll be playing in Edmonton or St. Louis.

It will be interesting to see which media members are going to be activated by the Oilers for the smear campaign against the 2 players for signing, and, the Blues.
Just a guess:
All the local media guys
Frank
Dreger
Also, this takes the hockey news of the day away from the Leafs coronation of Matthews, which won't play well in Toronto.

Wow that Broberg contract is pretty nuts. I'm actually surprised it took so long for a team to prey on the Oilers given their situation. I assume Kane is going to have unscheduled surgery and recovery on Robidas Island.

Maybe they forgot about these 2 because the Drai negotiations are going so well.

If the Flames could trade a 2nd and 3rd for both Broberg and Holloway that would be a steal and the cap would be insignificant for the team right now. I wouldn’t advocate for them to do it but from a value standpoint if the Blues pull this off it will be nice work for them

Makes sense why news leaked of Kane possibly needing surgery and having to go on long-term IR.

Fantastic. That Broberg deal is pretty bad, but anything that could screw over two teams at once is fun to watch. Good job Blues.
