Harris is the logical choice at this point.

Her polling numbers frequently have her losing to trump and in some cases lower then Biden. Who knows what a few months campaigning could do though.

There’s no incumbent advantage if she’s only been in office for a week. It’s about track record and name recognition.

Debatable. She's BEEN VP that whole time. And there's a clear track record of the strength of a vice president going on to becoming president

You might try explaining why Harris being President for a few months where she'd be spending all of her time and energy campaigning is going to represent some kind of incumbency advantage.
And that doesn't get into the fact that they'd likely be unable to fill the open VP position (as that requires Congressional confirmation), making the Republican Speaker of the House next in line for the Presidency.

Then why have him step down? VPs already have the name recognition.

Not necessarily. This could finally motivate the democrat base to get off their asses and vote, particularly the undecideds and the 18-35 crowd.

You guys do realize Biden had a handsome lead before the debate right? Trump just had 3 bumps in a row and its still within the margin of error. With the right candidate the dems will be up in no time. Right candidate being the key word.

If there is any risk with this move it's that it may open the back door for the Repubs to steal the election if the replacement candidate wins. Claim the replacement is illegitimate, take it all the way to the Supreme Court, and we all know what will happen there. But I still don't see this mattering much for the Presidency itself, but it might save down ballot for the Dems.

George Bush was the last sitting VP to be elected President, 36 years ago. The last one before him was Van Buren in 1836.
Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Nixon and Biden are the only former VPs to later win a Presidential election.

It’s such a bizarre statement to be categorized as glee. The Dems aren’t the problem. The racist, uneducated, hateful, xenophobic populace is. Not to mention the gerrymandering and voter suppression.

Yup.
This could have worked if they'd done it earlier.
At least this more or less completely overwhelms the news cycle.

When Nixon resigned they were able to get a new vice president when the Democrats held congress. But I guess the Republicans of today are different animal
