I was initially worried when they announced their vet would perform a necropsy, but relieved to learn they also had a third-party evaluation.
It's a tragic incident, but it's good to see the zoo taking responsible steps to at least address it.

Haha, it's sort of what happens when you put wild animals in cages, no?
I don't imagine nature is any kinder, though.
Animals are super dumb, though, dude. Like, if you and I went swimming and were horsing around in the water...I'd be mindful not to kick you in your fkn head. And if I did, I'd be smart enough to drag you out.
Animals are absolute morons.

They had a bad run a while ago, culminating in the death of the pool of sting rays. But there were others as well, that seemed to be caused by some level of human error.
This is a dated article but it has some of them:

More here:

But I think things are much better now. This is obviously horribly tragic but I think on the whole there isn't the pattern of issues that perhaps there once was.

I don't remember that one, but I do remember mocking you for wondering how a gorilla can differentiate between a toddler and an adult. I mean, animals are dumb, but they can tell huge from tiny.

Relative to a gorilla, isn’t everyone tiny?

I dunno, I remember lots of horsing around in pools and lakes, having someone on your shoulders fighting others, and I'm sure they always ended with someone taking a foot to the head, or similar. Nice try, humans aren't all that smart either. But ya, we did at least drag them out, while laughing at the blood and calling them a cry baby.

IDK. I just know if you're ever faced with a gorilla you have to make yourself look as big as possible, bear your teeth and maintain intense eye contact.

Yo. I'm trying to build a narrative here.
