I was between Grushnikov, Poirier and Solovyov for this vote.
Suniev, Lipinski and Battaglia also got some consideration.
I went with Grushnikov. He has good potential and his style of play/what he brings to the table is unique and should get an opportunity sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately for Poirier, there is a logjam in the offensively gifted defensemen role with players who will potentially get longer looks than him. It drops his potential to make the squad/be an impactful player.
Solovyov has held the role of a depth player/tweener already. I see him making the squad this year, though probably topping out as #5.
I didn’t even give that much weight / consideration to Mews yet

Poirier for me.
Our backend pool is deep, once they all graduate we could have a group that leads the league in points yearly.

You don't rate Battaglia? I'm also pretty darn sure the org rates Zarubin over Sergeev at this point.

Not the flashiest guys, but I really like the way they approach their game.

I've been tempted to vote for Lipinski too. He might not have the highest ceiling, but he seems to be one of those prospects that has a lot of translatable skills to be solid NHL player one day.

I love that Lipinski plays the middle of the ice. I remember in the early early preseason he made a nice little play chipping the puck to the middle and taking a dirty little shot on net. It doesn't always work but it forces the D to think about it.

Poirier, Battaglia then Mews
I like the idea of what Grushnikov can be but need to see more consistency in the AHL this year. I'm not swayed by a decent dev camp showing where he was one of the older attendees

Grushnikov for me, followed by Poirier, then I'm debating whether Soloyov goes after or if some of the newer picks should go before...

Poirier arguably will be behind Parekh and Brzustevicz in the long-term plans, but he is older and should be ready for some NHL time. I still remember when he was drafted and had the '3rd best hands in the entire draft'. Kid is super-slick. The big question was his willingness to play a good enough defensive game.
I think he has the chance to really be impactful at the NHL level, and probably should have gone a few rounds earlier. I would imagine he gets a long look this year at some point this season, if not straight out of camp.

He certainly has that "star" quality to him when watching his highlights. Just have to hope he keeps on a steady development path and we could have something there.

It's so nice to have a prospect pool where I can see arguments for about 5 guys to have this spot.

First of all, why would they rate Zarubin over Sergeev? He had a fantastic year in the USHL, and then two pretty good seasons at Connecticut, where he was better than the guy named the starting goalie. . He's 6'3", quick and athletic, and works hard on his game, and has shown well at high levels in N.A. Zarubin had a big year based on the numbers, but was not very good before that. He might just be a flash in the pan, whereas Sergeev has shown solid progression.
Battaglia seems like one of those dime a dozen junior guys. Players that can do well at that level, but don't have a lot of qualities that translate well to the NHL. He seems like a guy that tops out as a 3rd line winger. I'm just not a big fan yet, but my mind could be changed in the future. I'll stick him in the B+ pool going forward.

I think Battaglia plays a very translatable game. He battles hard and is direct with his approach to the game. Mix that with in a very balanced offensive toolkit which isn't overly reliant on one trait and to me he's a kid whom if he can improve his skating - projects quite nicely as a middle six forward. He's right there with Suniev on my list.

Holy, seeing Misa reasonably placed at 17 is a huge bell weather for how deep this pool is right now. No way there's not like 5-10 impact nhlers here.

I realize that there's been the injury factor, but Poirier seems to be dropping down the depth chart every time there's a new batch of defensive prospects.

I think it's too hard to tell what the organization actually has in Poirier. He's looked solid in some AHL action, but he's only played 192 games over the past 4 years between the QMJHL and AHL. He could be a lifetime AHL'er or continue to develop into a great well-rounded NHL'er.

To be clear, I'm not trying to be critical whatsoever, I've enjoyed reading your takes. I'm not certain Sergeev is regarded all that highly at this point, though. He kind of lost his crease this past season and entered the transfer portal, which typically isn't a very good sign. He'll need to have a big year or two to get a contract, IMO.
Battaglia is a terrific prospect, IMO. Overlooked a little because he wasn't as popular in the public sphere as Basha, Mews, or even Misa, but he scored a ton on a Kingston team that really struggled to put the puck in the net. I would be shocked if he doesn't make the NHL.
