He’s the leading scorer of the vaunted 2003 draft.
Of course he does.

One of the highest hockey IQ players I ever watched. Great career and going to miss watching him play.

That old Sharks core was something else- 4,825 regular season GP between Thornton, Marleau and Pavelski.

He should be in the HHOF just a Flames killer!

Should he in the HHOF, though? The Hall as currently is, probably. But in his 18 seasons, he never once averaged a point a game. Never made any post-season all star teams. No trophy considerations, that I can recall. 1 40 goal season. Only 5 70-point seasons.
Should longevity get you into the Hall? It might, but personally I think we was a very good player, but never a great player.

To me he was a consistent compiler which is a skill. Should be in the Hall of Very Good but not the Hall of Fame in my opinion. Was never the best at his position in the NHL and usually not the best player on his own team. Great career and I don't mean this to be negative….I just may have higher standards than the Hall of Fame selection committee.

And just his hand-eye co-ordination!
Probably the best tipper in the League. Is that a HHOF category?

If that's the criteria, half the NHL alumni would be in the hall.

First Line Centre
|
• No individual awards
• No top 10 finishes
• 1x PPG season
• 5x 30+ goal seasons
• 1x 40+ goal season
• No Cup
• No international gold
• 1x 2nd Team All-Star
He would undoubtedly be one of the weakest entries of all time in the HHOF if he were to be inducted.

Him and Dino Cicarelli are the best front of net puck tippers I’ve ever seen.

Joe Nieuwendyk was just as good, until he blew his ACL and MCL and couldn't take the punishment to stand in front of the net anymore.

I think Pavelski is a good example of a guy who should get in by the standards the hall of fame has set.
But also embodies the argument that the hall could be more selective. Great player, great career, not sure if he was ever the guy who embodied the "fame" aspect some would search for in a hall of fame admission.
given the current hall of fame, it would be a shame not to admit him.

Sharks reached out to see if he would do one more year to....as the article says..."right a wrong". Basically gave Pav's money to Evander Kane.
