Yes, "possibly". It is possible. I think Cali's list is very clear (and reasonable) in that regard.

They are drafting a lot of skill. So I think that is what he means by star player, they have the possibility to pop.
I don't see it in Stromgren or Honzek.

Brzustewicz for me - 92 points on the blue line is 92 points.

Went with Pelletier. He has already played a fair number of games with the big club, and looks like a top 9 forward, but not a top 3. Brz and Honzek are close to him in my rankings, but haven't shown yet that they can play with the big club, and they don't look like top line/top pairing prospects either.

Honzek's first pro season... He'll start out hesitant, but finish strong.
This year's Stromgren.

I watched a bunch of games with Morton and there's a potential for him to develop into one of those dependable high energy/effort 3rd line center grinders sooner than later.
I think his game translates well at the NHL level. Smart player, quick decisions, stays on his feet, etc...

Honzek is being disrespected here.
The fact he is neck and neck with Pelletier is wild.
We forget what happened with Zary after some early injury issues.

I would love for you to explain how Bryz doesn't look like a top pairing prospect.

Just looking at this list again, forget the overall skill improvement but how Conroy has rebuilt that defensive prospect base, and even with younger roster players is unbelievable.
It all makes sense as well when people talk about team building and building from the net out. We have our prospect in net Wolf. He has loaded up on all sorts of defenceman, and he is openly looking for our #1C. He gets it.
We love you Craig, big boy.

(1) likely elite NHLers - Parekh
(2) NHLers, potentially elite - Wolf, Coronato
(3) potentially NHLers, potentially elite in their roles - Pelletier, Brz, Stromgren, Grushnikov, Suniev, Poirier, Soloyov, Klapka
(4) potentially NHLers, potentially elite in their roles, but unproven since drafted - Morin, Mews, Basha, Gridin, Battaglia, Misa, Honzek, Jurmo, Hurtig, Sergeev, Lipinski,
(5) potentially NHL tweeners - Morton, Ciona, Schwindt

I like Cali's approach...so I'm stealing it!
I have been swayed to Brz by the arguments here. Hunter has had an amazing D+1 and trajectory is a real thing. If all goes well, he could potentially be a PP2 QB.
Next round I will be going with Pelletier, as he has historically performed at a high level across leagues. I expect he will have some runway in the NHL to figure it out this year and establish himself as a middle-six winger with Blake Coleman as a ceiling. If not, I think he will be at minimum, and effective 4th liner as a floor.
Our other prospects are too unproven, but I expect a couple of them to have great seasons (Mews? and jump the list).

Went with Honzek. I'm trying to manifest him into a top 6 NHLer. Clearly the scouts saw something there, and he's still young!

Impulsively almost went Brz. After the click, maybe shoulda went Gridin, but ultimately it is the Honz. Kinda cool to be this indecisive for all the right reasons...

Excellent question. For me, his defensive liabilities and lack of consistency make him more of an upper tier 2nd pair/PP2 QB type of player. And less to do with Hunter personally, but I think that Parekh is much more likely to take that first pairing spot on the right side. Similar types of player, but I don't think Hunter has quite the same upside as Zayne. For me, Brz is #5 on this list. The Flames could quite literally be stacked on the right side of the D for years to come.

Anyone can have a poor season, but Honzek had a horrible season.
Yes he has size, speed and can easily turn it around...but I would have trouble voting for him ahead of Pelletier or other prospects who have yet to put up a stinker (Basha, Gridin, even Grush).

Pelletier just had an identical season that was completely derailed by injuries too, as did Poirier.
If he was 100% healthy all season then I think it would be fair to write it off, but those injury plagued seasons are always hard to gauge.

Don't know where I'll place him yet, but Morton was fantastic after joining the Wranglers last year. Definitely a player we'll see with the big club at some point.

I am very high on a next bunch of players - Brzustewicz, Morin, etc., but it is still Honzek for me.
He is a real catalyst. He has size, but isn't reliant on it (yet - he will learn to use it as me bulks up). He certainly has speed, he is fantastic on the forecheck, he has an absolute wicked shot and I think he has the IQ and vision to really translate. I still have him near the top of the heap.
