I just don’t think they’re all that close to winning. Fun town yes but not the Preds of 5-6 years ago.

You also don’t build teams on July 1st. Winning July 1 usually means battling for wild card spots and looking to undo what you just did.

They arguably have a Top 3 goalie in Saros and Top 3 dman in Josi. Forsberg is an elite forward.

They can definitely use some more offense and it seems that is what they are looking to accomplish here.

I think they are closer than most think.

At the end of the day the guy scored 40G, 41A through 79 games this season and has only missed 5 games over the last 3 years.

He’s an offensive dynamo (…maybe more of a PP specialist though?)

Saros is good, but at the deadline last year around these parts most argued Markstrom is better.

Josi is great but 34. Forsberg is a top line forward that essentially all playoff teams have.

Again, not sold, but if UFAs aren’t concerned with cup chasing then it makes sense.

Not sure about that. Not when you land Steven Stamkos.

@PierreVLeBrun
If the Predators can finalize things with Jonathan Marchessault, hearing his deal with Nashville will be five years and around $5.5 M AAV per season

$13.5M combined for Stamkos and Marchessault seems okay...even if both are pretty old

With those two guys in the lineup they steamroll the Nucks and most likely the Oilers as well last playoffs.

I could see 2 of Evangelista, Parsinen, and Tomasino getting squeezed out of NSH because of this. It could be an opportunity to get another Sharangovich after Meier took his spot.

I'd love the Flames to go for him, then flip Wolf if I have the choice between both. Wolf's size is a question mark. I could see Edmonton wanting Askarov.
