I'd prefer a more poised veteran to be around the younger goalies than Campbell.

Driedger feels like a good fit to me

I kind of wondered if the Jets would give up some low picks to move him. Guess not.

Also would not be shocked to see him a Flame.

I still remember when Neal started so hot with the Oilers. Wasn't he on pace for like a 50 goal season. Oilers fans were laughing at Calgary.

Of course. Someone who can clear waivers but can also step in and play NHL minutes (and lose) if the need arises. I suspect that's exactly the type of goalie Conroy is looking for.

I've only ever driven through Bakersfield one time, but I can confidently say, Calgary is a nicer place to live. Also, for a guy who likely thinks he can still play in the NHL but probably realizes he might need to work his way back, signing with a team whose AHL affiliate plays in the same market would make thing easier on his family (if he has one).

Schmidt would actually be a good 3rd pair signing.

Strong defensively, bad at most everything else.

He is not very good and definitely not worth 6 million. Was kinda hoping Conroy could use cap space for him.

Flames have 3rd pairing guys in spades. They need at the very least a legit 2nd pairing guy.

Katz'll have a couple of private dicks tail Kane to gather/plant evidence for a unconditional contract termination.

Best case scenario for Campbell. Edmonton is truly laughable.

Unless you are a goalie. They are where goalies go to have their careers die

Pre-Oilers, Campbell had sv% of .921 and .914 in Toronto. He dropped to .888 with the Oilers, then was back to .918 in the AHL

It is like Cam Talbot, he has had good stats his whole career on many teams, .915 over his career, except that one year they hung him out to dry (and then one year on a dreadful Ottawa team). He did well in Calgary and was just fine in LA

They have always had stretches with horrible D (we all have seen the ‘this guy scored’ pics) and blamed the goalie

Campbell is just fine, hopefully he can salvage a few years of his career after the horrible mistake of playing for Edmonton and consequent setback

You never say never given how bad a lot of NHL GM's are but he's almost 33 years old and declining fast with a well earned reputation for not being great in the locker room. Not sure why any team would want to take him on for two years and over $10 million.

Also, just a friendly reminder they are still paying James Neal $1,916,667 this coming season.
His salary being 5.4, 4.2 and 3.9 the next 3 seasons he was to make 13.5 million. I thought the buyout would reflect the total amount owed over 6 years. The total buyout cap-hit only amounts to 10.4.

They need a vet around.

Casey DeSmith/Drieger/Wedgewood type....maybe even go full circle and Talbot?

Agreed, though I would not mind seeing them sink their teeth into some other long term deal with a aging UFA in a Co ple days. Lol

Boqvist is not great, but I like his age, if they take the time develop him.

…if they were to move on from Vladar. Sounds like Conroy is looking for a #3 though.
