I think this is a good trade for Tampa.

That's as nice a 'reload' trade as I've seen a team execute.

Sergachev isn't their Hedman. He was expendable.

...if they now sign Stamkos though, I think father time will catch up with them regardless of this though. That crew is getting old.

This does two things, IMO, covers Cap Floor Issues, and signals intentions to be competitive.

I think Utah with a good defense will be a dangerous club. Good for the Flames rebuild

Utah was never going have an issue with the floor, new owner wants to win and they have money and too much draft capital, need to dump some of the picks they have. Would need 75 contract spots in a few years vs the 50 you’re allowed

I suggested a few weeks ago rasmus and something for sergachev. Just had a feeling he would move to make room for Stamkos.

I’d target moser now. Might help tampa get even more room to win now

Hmm...I wouldn't say he was expendable. That team is pretty poor defensively, and he was one of the few solid guys back there. His injury exposed them pretty badly last year as having no depth on defense.

All for an aging Stamkos? Listen, I think he's a helluva player and was easily their best player in the playoffs this year, but this seems very shortsighted to me.

Really think people are underestimating Moser, and they got McDonagh back, too.

I think it’s mostly the same hockey ops as coyotes, but there is definitely a different feeling to Utah vs Arizona in the way they are doing business.

If TBL manage to get Guentzel with the freed cap space it will be a huge W for them. They will be a more balanced team as a result. Overall I think it's a fair trade.

Any chance Tampa would flip Geekie for a underpaid top pairing d? Asking for myself.

I thought it was rumoured Guentzel was re-signing with Carolina.

Any move can backfire.

But you have to add good players if you want your team to be good. Looks like the new owner doesn’t want to be a door mat anymore.

Good for their fans.
