Come on Scotland!

they have no chance of winning but would be good to scrape out of the group and we need to give a few renditions of “Yes sir I can boogie” to cheer up those dour Germans

Hope it’s a great tournament

I think Germany surprises a few people and has a decent run, quarters or semis aren’t out of the question for them.

For me it’s England’s tournament to lose if they can protect the CBs enough.

Would love to see a small country make a run, I’m rather bullish on Slovenia. Great keeper, good striker. Those are decent ingredients for tournament success

My dark horse is Austria. They have some strong Bundesliga players. I like Sabitzer (Dortmund), Laimer (Bayern) and Baumgartner (Leipzig) in midfield and I think Arnautovic (Inter) and Gregoritsch (Freiburg) can score goals in this tournament. No David Alaba at the back is a blow but they've done without him before.

Anyway, there's usually a surprise team that makes it to the semis and they're my choice, though they're in a tough group with France and the Netherlands (plus Poland).

Pretty good Dark Horse. The thing is...and I know its strange to say, but they might actually be better without Alaba.

They focus on him too much, they key on him and they rely on him. Without him they're actually a fairly well balanced team.

we're also missing our number 1 GK (Alexander Schlager) and, even worse, a key midfielder in Xaver Schlager.

it's a solid team with a really good coach. Not sure how much noise we can make, it's a pretty tough group after all. But definitely excited.

This is my hesitation with England too (and maybe their CBs)

Even just stuff like leaving Maddison off the squad when I think he would have provided a different look as a sub for them over some of the attacking options they kept.

This is my issue. If I'm England's coach and I look at my attacking options and my midfield?

I say..."shackles off boys. Go get 'em."

The back 4 and GK will do their thing, but this is International football and they out-talent so many teams. I'd just advocate 'attack.'

Your mids will hold and your back 4 can hold if supported. But you've got to be aggressive. Thats your strength.

They're goddamned Due.

They have to learn their lesson from the 2020 final. They scored in the first 5 minutes against Italy, at home, crowd going wild, and took their foot off the gas. They should have tried to kill that game off right then and there. As you said, with their talent, they should be taking it to everyone.

No one doing a GDT for the Euros?
I turned on the game a few minutes late and Germany is already stepping firm on Scotland's throat...

That should be a penalty for Germany, horrid challenge on Gundogan. Could be a red card too for violent play

Edit: Yep and yep

It felt like Scotland is already out of the Euro after only 45 minutes.

But this group also have teams like Hungary and Switzerland, I guess they still stand a chance to advance...

Yeah...called that pretty much immediately.

It kind of felt like the Ref wanted to go easy but theres not much else you can do there.
