Holy crap, never realized how epic Stolarz season was. He actually was third in goals saved above expected, and great WAR, expected GAA vs actual GAA...Florida must do something against lesser lights that let's the goaltender look superhuman in the advanced stats....or they're absolute morons for not playing Stolarz more!

Looks like cleaning up the defensive end was a big thing for the Panthers this season.

It's even more impressive considering they didn't have Montour or Ekblad for the first few months. The top pair was Forsling and Ekman-Larsson for quite a while, and guys like Uvis Balinskis were playing every night.

When the season began I was certain that the Panthers were going to be a bottom team on defense. Imagine my surprise when halfway through the season they were the top defensive team in the league...

Paul Maurice deserves a TON of credit.

They finished 1st in goals against.

A better defensive team and a goalie back in form, they will be a difficult out.

Last year it looked like they tried to out score their way into the playoffs.

I'm saying I only noticed it halfway through the year. They maintained it from that point when I first noticed it.

Any system changes? Or more focused on being better defensively?

Doesn’t seem like a lot of offence was sacrificed.
