I guess Marc Andre Fleury will be asking for an indefinite leave of absence?

Then when the players started taking leaves of absence just prior to the announcement of formal criminal charges, things looked fairly obvious. People were still biting their tongues.

Historical sexual abuse claims are pretty common these days. In some ways they are easier to prosecute/litigate, as the victims are now adults who can fully articulate themselves and the long-term effects of the abuse are apparent.

But yes, evidence can get lost. Memories fade.

It sings both ways though.

Ugh. Aside from the whole sexual assault part, somebody needs to explain to me why elite junior hockey seems to involve getting your dick out in front of other guys and having group sex. I don’t get it.

I'm old and naive I guess. Had no clue what lamb roast was. And from very quick google search saw this article.
If there were article like this and similar well before the current incident:

https://www.vice.com/en/article/jmkb...-junior-hockey

WTF have all the hockey canada and various leagues been doing to fix this??
And any sport or group that has this occurring.

Same thing as the Catholic church, apparently.

There WAS a video - probably long gone. The guy who reported it said he saw the video, but it wasn't his.

Story suggests a whole bunch of players were there.

It's a weird Jr hockey bro thing. Something that's been happening for a long time. Some of it comes from hazing.

Not just elite junior hockey. I used to work with a guy that played junior B in Ontario and some of his stories were disgusting.

Good point. It starts young with these guys. The hazing stuff is beyond disgusting too. I got out of hockey because of it.

There is a reason hockey is behind the major sports. I remember playing Basketball and not dealing with any of that stuff with teammates.

I remember rumours around Red Deer during/after the 1995 World Juniors of women going up to guys rooms and then being 'asked' if they would also have sex with the dude's roommate or other team members. I don't think it was Team Canada, but other teams that were staying in Red Deer. I think Team Canada were staying in Edmonton or Calgary? The tourney was split between the three cities that year.

Anyway, this crap goes way back and is really widespread. They could probably investigate every year of the World Juniors and find something.

More so meant accusing random players with no proof, which is how 2018 started.

There are some incredibly disgusting stories out there. It was happening in the late 80’s and 90’s for sure. I wonder when that culture started…….

Jordan Tootoo wrote all about it in his book, so this is no surprise to anyone who read it. The Halifax Police are just trying to cover their ass because they did nothing for twenty years. There is zero doubt in my mind that the London Police will be dismissed and the RCMP will end up taking over their jurisdiction.

I remember reading about this last year was it?

Didn't the video reportedly show several of the players having "sex" with a passed out woman?

Disgusting. Hopefully they get what's coming to them, although that seems unlikely this far out from the incident.

Halifax and London police are, sadly, not the exception. This is a few years old from Robyn Doolittle, the reporter who broke the latest news about the London 5.
