This is what is shocking. It's kind of one or the other. Perry either has a valid $4mln contract with the Blackhawks or his behaviour was so bad he should not be able to hold a contact in the league right now.

It can't be both. Although the league is so desperate for McDavid to win a Cup they really don't care. Perry will sign at league min, Chicago will pay him the difference between that and 4mil, and the Oilers get a player without absorbing their entire cap hit.
