In the first place, they have no shame. After that horrible own-goal by Vladar, any team with an ounce of decency would have forfeited the game and slunk off the ice in shame.
Second, they have a dead guy on the team. I watched Gilbert very closely as they were ‘helping’ him off the ice. That ‘Weekend at Bernie's’ routine doesn't fool me. He's a stiff. He has gone to join the choir invisible. If he wasn't nailed to the bench, he'd be pushin' up the daisies. He is an ex-parrot! I mean player!
In fact, going back over footage of the game, I'm pretty sure he was dead even when he was skating around before the hit. This is obvious cap circumvention – dressing a player who can't be paid because he is suffering from a condition of bleedin' demised. The league needs to come down hard on this, and of course, the Flames should forfeit the game. Maybe they should forfeit it twice.
And what a finish. Nobody was happier about that match penalty than the Predators, who knew they would be facing the Flames' power play for the rest of the game, and wouldn't give up another goal if it lasted a million years. You can't score a shorthanded goal when the other team beats you to it by being shorthanded first!
Despite all this, the league continued to show its brazen dishonesty by awarding the Flames two points. Again. The only asset in the entire organization is their first-round pick this year, and it's depreciating by the minute. Guys, auction it off while you can still get something for it! And then fold the franchise. Harrumph!

Only caught the third. Seeing highlights tomasino went knee on knee with ruzicka too earlier? Hard to claim the Gilbert incident wasn’t intentional after two incidents. He’ll need to be fed his teeth next time we play.
I agree. He was taking runs all night long, so to come and play innocent there is BS. It's games like this where I miss having a good who will just go and start throwing punches to settle that crap down.
Saros was terrible which was a pleasant surprise. Flames capitalized when the had chances and were pretty solid defensively with the lead.
Still think they should sell what they can and maybe try to sign some of these guys back in the summer. That would be the ideal situation because they aren't that far off from competitive team when the key pieces are going.

Know it's meant to be a joke but really don't like the Gilbert comments here.
He could be seriously hurt, and people have actually died from hitting their head as hard as he did in that spot on the temple.
Not in good taste at all to joke about something like that, especially when we have no idea if he's actually okay at this point.

It made me laugh. He'll be fine but likely out for awhile.
He might be fine, but we don't know.
Maybe I'm sensitive to the topic since a family friend died due to brain hemorrhage after slipping on ice and hitting his head in a similar way but it seems extremely distasteful to joke about that when we have no idea of the seriousness of his injury.

Ya, no one has any idea if he’ll be fine or not. Look at how many concussions are concluding player’s careers these days. It was certainly made in poor taste.
This team may be missing that elite offensive talent of some other teams but they are definitely a team built with lots of players that are hard to play against. Lindholm, Backlund, Kadri, Coleman, Posposil, Weegar, Andersson and Tanev all play an aggressive game that is smart defensively. And that style of play has also been adopted by guys like Sharangovich, Huberdeau, Greer and Zary. Mangiapane, since he was re-united with Backlund and Coleman, has looked much better on both sides of the puck as well.
I know a bunch of key guys will likely be gone by the TDL but you hope this style of play continues. I think the leadership core of Backlund, Weegar and Andersson is very solid for the young guys that will be getting spots as trades begin to happen.
