I've got the latest Lemonaid SUV/Truck guide, if you want to know anything specific from it.
I'm looking at buying a small pickup and I used it to help me narrow my search.

I would say a Mazda5 or a 4-cyl Hyundai Tuscon would be perfect for your price range. For maximum bang for your buck use CarCostCanada to figure out the dealer invoice and use that as your negotiating tool. Or you can just buy photon's Subaru wagon

No offense, but aren't we talking a 17 second 1/4 mile and atleast 8 seconds 0-60?
I agree with you on the Challenger though, and I'm not a big fan of retro cars at all, but that thing is amazing!

I think Displaced was referring to how the Escape performed in the fuel economy department.

Check out the dodge Calibre http://www.get2knowcaliber.ca/ ...not available till 2007 but that is a SHARP car.
But seriously, my wife and I bought a used Volvo V70 T-5 and just love it! Comfortable, practical, fast, killer sound system, safe...and if you don't mind used Volvo's hold their value really really well. Brand new though...you need serious $$$$
You can't go wrong with a Subie either.

Fawk. I can't even read the word 'pony' without thinking of that hilarious sedin crack back in the summer. I swear, this site is building up a Jim Rome-esque aresenal of inside jokes and past references. And I'm only a one year lurker + one year poster.

IIRC, it was when the Sedin Sisters were whining and being sissies and holding out for more money during their contract negotiations, and when they finally signed, someone here cracked that they both probably got a pony as a signing bonus.

love it so far. Got the base model with 4WD (you can run it in 2 wheel until you need it). Fuel economy is decent, it's a 4 cyclinder, 165 HP, takes regular gas. Lots of room for baby stuff like carriages, etc.
With the base model you get power windows, locks, AM/FM CD, cloth interior, AC, heated mirrors.
About $29,000.

Warranty - Rav 4
Hey guys reviving an old thread, was wondering if anyone had any advice on extended warranties on the RAV - 4 (2006).
The base warranty is comprehensive coverage for 3 years or 60,000km and Powertrain components for 5 years or 100,000.
For an extra $1,000 you can extend comprehensive coverage to 48 months or 100,000kms. Thing is, you're buying a toyota, the dependability of the brand should make the warranty not necessary - no? However, there are electronic/computer parts that you can never know if they will last and they are expensive to fix. But you need something to go wrong in the 4th year for it to be worthwhile.
Then also, you can pay $1,000 for lifetime coverage of the "Environmental Protection Plan". You get fabric protection which ensures any stain will come out or they will replace the seat, you get Paint protection which seals the paint and eliminates any need for waxing, and undercoat protection for sealant and reducing road noise and lifetime rust protection.
It only works out to $25 extra per month.
Thoughts?
