No penalty makes sense. Took forever. It was pretty clear it was from the side.

It was from behind, but Beck tried to turn away from the hit as he was taken into the boards. Great that he protected himself, but it was still from behind.
If he didn't try to fight it off, he would have gone head first 2' from the boards.
Silly that it's not a penalty.

I disagree. That was a horrible no-penalty call. It was a very dangerous boarding play.

It's definitely boarding. Really odd that in a tournament where they're usually very happy to call hard hits boarding penalties they let something like that go which is actually dangerous.

Sweden was clearly better. They’ve not given up a goal in the last nine periods. If they meet the U.S. in the final that should be a great one.

Soft make up call on Sweden for a hook and Canada still did nothing with it. Very entertaining game either way.
Usually losses like this light a fire under their asses so this is a good thing in my books.

I don't get what the Canadian coach was thinking with that bench minor.
Like, you pull your goalie and you live and die with that decision.
I've never seen the coach try to sneak the goalie back onto the ice when the play is in your zone.

Did the coach actually send the goalie back out or did Rousseau hesitate and start skating back?

It looked like it was a clear 2 minute minor, but not a major.
I thought the call on Geekie earlier was a much worse call, no way that was a penalty.

I thought it looked like he was jumping off the bench on the replay.
It would make more sense if the goalie hesitated and tried to turn back.

I lost sight of Rousseau during the play but that’s just a guess from me

Boarding Rules
1) You can't just be up there and just doin' a boarding like that.
1a. Boarding is when you
1b. Okay well listen. A boarding is when you board the
1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The skater is not allowed to do a block to the, uh, skater that prohibits the skater from doing, you know, just trying to play the puck. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the skater is in the offensive zone, he can't be over here and say to the puck holder like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna block your possession! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to make a play and then don’t not stop facing the boards, you have to still face around the boards with shoulders. You cannot not avoid the boards with your face. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, skating motion out of away the boards, and then, until you just leave it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have your stick up here, like this, but then there's the interference you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza Interference hasn't been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn't typecast as that racist lady in American History X.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, she was in The Waterboy too! That would be even worse.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). "get in mah bellah" -- Adam Water, "The Waterboy." Haha, classic...
1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A boarding is when the skater makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the skater and the boards...
2) Do not do a boarding please.

Makes you wonder less that nhl power plays affect ice time in these tournament. 100% it happens, not an organization that is more glad handing and incestuous than hockey Canada.

Based on a lot of assumptions my guess is it having to do with Minten getting the most ice time despite being one of the most ineffective forwards and Fotze attributing that to him being a Maple Leaf prospect so team Canada doing the Leafs a favor and pumping up their guys ice time.
Could be wrong but either way it’s insane how much Minten is being used in key situations with how little he brings at this level.
