Well, for the most part they did do that although Andy needs to be nowhere near the PP. But NOBODY drives the net ...ever, with the exception occasionally of Kadri. While guys play in the centre and in front of the net nobody actually GOES to it. And, when they get opportunities, they go back to the blue line or out to the half-boards. Theyve got the personnel to do better...they just....don't. Coaching?

There is one line that looks good right now, and it has been this way for some time. Huska's answer is to shuffle one player on the 4th line.

Our play in the offensive zone is almost entirely along the perimeter. Our "zone defence" is more passive 5v5 than on the PK. Our PP is beyond terrible. The PK is great.

Lots of things to suggest our rookie coaching staff isn't getting it done.

I've asked before and I still would love someone to tell me. What does Huska want this team to be good at?

Uh Kadri, Coleman go to the net

So we can fault the effort and we do have enough top end / elite talent especially upfront?

Effort was there. Finish was not. Allergic to .500 it appears. Meh.

This game was a good microcosm of the Flames.

Goalie played good enough to win. Defense limited chances. Outworked the other team the majority of the game. Outshot the other team by a substantial amount.

Couldn’t score if their life depended on it.

At what point is it not the coach?

This looked more like last season than any recent game

Sucks because they don’t play a lot over the next 8-9 days so the gap between them and playoff bar is likely gonna grow. They could have really used this one.
You're thinking playoffs with this team?

Kadri rarely goes to the net, most of his shots are perimeter shots that hit the goalie in the chest. Coleman I will give you but Coleman and Greer are the only lunchbox players on this team. Actually Pospisil too.

I mean the only goal of the game was Kadri going to the net

Last games before breaks. First games back from breaks.

Team can never go out with a bang or hit the ground running.

It would be nice to have that team.

He was one of their better players tonight.

Led the team in xGF%. Had 3 shot on goal. Set up 3 or 4 real high quality scoring chances. With tougher matchups and zone starts.

People love the Kadri line (and deservedly so) but they are also being given the high ground with easy matchups and 65%+ offensive zone starts most nights.

Would like to see 47-91-10 for a game just to see what it looks like, Zary and Huberdeau have shown chemistry on limited minutes together. It's only 7 minutes but they had 80% xGF, generated 3 scoring changes and 1GF...feels like that deserves a longer look.

Right, but for every goal he scores going to the net how many perimeter shots does he take that hit the goalie in the breadbasket or go wide? I mean Huberdeau's last goal was also him going to the net, are you saying he is a net driving goal scorer?

Coleman is a volume shooter. He has no idea what he is shooting at.

But who expects him to be a goal scorer. He is overachieving.

The team has been working hard but is 7th worst in the league by points percentage. Craig Conroy has a clear message from the team: sell, sell, sell.
