It's a headscratcher. He was fantastic in the playoffs after Vanacek got the hook.

Any halfway decent goalie can look fantastic for short periods of time. It's just more noticeable when it happens in the playoffs.

Remember when Brian Boucher got five consecutive shutouts? If those had been playoff games, he'd have played a perfect series and people would still be oohing and aahing about it. Instead, he's remembered as a fairly average goalie who happens to have a line in the record book.

Schmid just caught his groove when more people were watching.

No doubt they were going to move on from Blackwood, but being from Thunder Bay myself, maybe a bit of seller's remorse for me.

The Sharks win their 1st away game of the season. From the post game links, "The league-worst Sharks came in 0-10-0 away from home with just six goals in those games." Duclair and MacDonald each scored 2 goals in the win. The Sharks had no penalties called on them all game.

What is lately with teams winning while being badly out shot by their oppenents? The Devils had 47 shots on Kahkonen to the Sharks 18 shots on Schmid. In the other game, the Senators out shot the BJs 43-23. That is just whacked out.
