Bad return. I think we could have gotten a 2nd closer to the deadline. The 3rd being so far out decreases the value too. That's 2 extra years of development time.

I'll miss Big Z! He seemed to be thought of as a bottom pairing guy by 70% or so of the fanbase and clearly by management, but I definitely saw him as a 3/4 guy. Not many other defencemen bring his mix of the physical game with ability to leave his defenders in the dust with his stride. But ultimately, extending him longterm for anything more than 5M per would have turned out badly.
