If it’s Sutter that’s bad news.

Don't really like the guy with how he presents on TV. I also don't think he is the issue.

who are they going to get to open the gate and let the wonder twins out for 30 minutes a game and hope to get enough PP's to win?

Sutter becoming Oilers head coach? That would be amazing. Hope I'm on that highly entertaining timeline.

Either one of those coaches going into that team would 100% turn that trash heap around (...but is it too late?).

I'd also chuckle if it was Boudreau.

Who's gonna be the new coach? The situation from jersey shore?

It would be funny if it is Sutter given Woodcroft's arrogance after being asked about coaching during theFlames/Oilers playoff series.

I think they will go with Gallant.

He has the reputation as a guy that will bring in structure and defense and demand a lot from their players. The Oilers seem to value the media more than other teams and his name has been floated around a lot as a guy they should hire.

If Sutter didn't have the contract with the Flames I think he would be the #1 target but can't see that working with the Flames having to give permission.

Won't be Sutter. Or Gallant. I'd be stunned if it was Q or Babs.

It'll probably be Gulutzan for the rest of the year.

Enjoy!

Gallant makes a lot of sense, and would be the least controversial of the established/top tier coaches to hire.

I don't think so. I think the only reason you make this move is to bring in outside help that the team needs. The Oilers don't have the time left on those Draisaitl/McDavid contracts to "wait and see". They need a heavy hitter and they need him now.

If Gulutzan was getting the job he would have likely been announced in conjunction with the Woodcroft firing. I assume they are going outside the franchise. Way too many Flames fans joking on twitter about Sutter but that is the last thing I want.

To be fair, there's been no announcement of this yet. Just Friedman breaking it.

The Oilers are morons but no way is it Gulutzan for the rest of the year, maybe for the next week while they get the new guy in place but they will want a bigger name to appease the media or a good old boy to appease the fans.

Ideally they will bring Mess in to "fix" the problem.
