Love that Wolf is getting the start. Let's all try to have some patience. I'm sure he will make mistakes but I'm 100% convinced he is the Flames goalie of the future.

If he plays great, he’s our next savior. If he plays awful, it’s his second NHL game ever playing behind half a team who don’t want to be here.

But I expect melt downs still in the GT.

The tradition this year, of course, is that call-ups get their first NHL goal in their first game of being called up this year.

Wolf has been called up and is playing.

The conclusion is obvious.

Their starts to the first and second periods last night were dreadful. I expect them to be better tonight.

Absolutely, you have to have more patience when it’s a goalie. Look at Demko, totally killing it this season but he never had a GAA below 2.58 or Sv% better than .915 prior to this year. In fact his first 37 starts his stats aren’t good: 3.34 & .889.

I am sure Ottawa will come out playing really hard. That's still a desperate team, and I am sure that they won't want to give the boo-birds in their arena any excuses to express themselves. If Calgary can withstand that first 5 or 10 minutes, I think it will go a long way to winning the game. I think the Flames take this one, and Wolf gets win #2 in his career.

Last year’s game in Ottawa was embarrassing. Let’s see if it’s different with Wolf in net

Ottawa is a very interesting case study into what a long rebuild looks like. I see many parallels to us and their version that bottomed out in 2017-18 just after considering themselves contenders.
3 years in a row of lottery draft position (19 4th overall going to Col, ouch)
But ‘18 yielded them Brady T and ‘20 was an absolute home run with their 3 picks in first round with similar projected impact to Dallas Hieskenen,Robertson Ottenger draft.
Add to that many good young pieces like Batherson, Norris , Pinto(susp), Zub, Chabot etc.
and after 7 long seasons could be on the rise but still aren’t considered contenders let alone a playoff team yet.

My point is rebuilds are long and Ottawa has had some draft luck but still aren’t there. If we bottom out and go into a rebuild we should expect a similar timeline.

Pumped that Wolf is starting. I am guessing there will be a healthy amount of Flames discussion in the second intermission during the 32 thoughts segment. I suspect it to mirror that of the Dreger tweet that teams are interested but the Flames are in no rush.

You would hope but it will probably be about the Oilers as usual.

Pretty much guaranteed after their loss to San Jose the other day.

this is true and the Flames have to play well in front of him but he also needs to make the saves...this is the NHL not the tried hard league

his performance will show us if he is NHL ready or not

not just tonight obviously

This is certainly going to be an interesting game, Wolf starting who knows whats going on with Zad, and Ottawa made us their bitch last year so there should be some revenge coming to mind.

Should be good.
