Honestly it is ideal for them to be either really bad or really good. The tough decisions are if they are good but not great. As this slump continues, it makes decisions clearer for management. Perhaps this collection of players is just not good enough. Get rid of the players you can and do a retool with high picks and younger players.

At the very least, the action you don't take in the next 4 to 5 games is to re-sign anyone. Hopefully, the potential insider who said the Flames had a 20 game time frame to evaluate this team was right about that.

Boy that was a bad typo,.
Meant to say this:

I would rather they leave it as is for a few more months than try to make another move to "save this season".

It does t have to be a save the season trade. By game 20 if they are still struggling and not .500 then trade off the UFAs for picks and prospects and see if you can shake up the team with younger players.

Yeah I don't think it's wrong to sit tight at this point either. I just don't know if any value near where we would have thought will be available in terms of return by waiting until the deadline.

Huberdeau and Kadri aside, there is something waayyy off with this group when even pending UFAs set to cash in are performing as badly as they are and comments about will being broken this early in the season in a 2-0 game are just shocking to say the least.

If you are going to move guys, you need to wait until later in the season to expand the market as the cap implications are more manageable.
Right now no one has room.

I have been pretty positive we have good players on the team, but they are not a team.

Its really hard to win in this league with a collection of players.

Your top players have to be home grown talent.

Starting to worry that the trade ruined Huberdeaus confidence. Feels like a guy who is trying so hard to show that he is better than Tkachuk and its leading to mistakes and things just not happening. Not sure how that can be fixed.

If Lindholm can not perform with Huberdeau and Kadri, I see no point of signing him to 1st line long term money.

I think we have seen enough to know but Conroy needs to make sure before he locked him up.

I think we have seen enough from Lindholm to know he won't fit with this collection of players going forward.

It will just be frustrating in year 5 as it is right now.

He is just not that elite #1 guy. Hes good but at 9.3 plus you want a guy who is going to carry his line and win you a cup.

If only the 10.5 million winger could do the same

And/or teams know how to or are able to take his time and space away from him now. He frequently puts his passes into the feet of the opponent checking him.
