Disappointing game. The level of interest by individual flames players in the second and third looked inversely proportional to their age.
I want them playing to figure out the system, but can’t build that with the top dman out for 4 games. I hope they can keep their wits about them during this stretch instead of taking it as a breaking point.

I think we've seen enough of Vladar.
With this game, he might have the lowest goals saved above expected per 60 in the league over the past two seasons. Especially with Reimer playing better.

Incredibly, the Flames special teams are a pretty big positive
Too bad they stink it up 5 on 5.

Vladar made some bad plays but we were completely anemic offensively.
Kadri spent more time in the penalty box than he did in the opposition's end.
And if Lindholm and Hanifin want to get paid they're going to have to be better than that.
Huberdeau...if he wasnt a solid minus player I'd have forgotten that he even played today.

On the bright side, Sharangovich scored a goal.

Overreacting to the first 10 games of the season is always fun

I don't think we should subject Wolf to this right now. Vladar was bad, but so was everyone else.
Honestly though, just put this one in the vault and move on. Sunday afternoon game on a pretty long eastern road trip. I don't think we should take too much away from this particular game.

So Paulie. You are going to be happy watching more performances like today while we extend Lindholm at 9 million a season to add to the many other boat anchor contracts we already have on the team? You have a stronger stomach than I do. This team has done so many things wrong since Johnny screwed us over.

Every loss matters.
To the 2024 entry draft!
To trading Lindholm!
To trading Hanifin!
To burning this whole thing down!

Looking forward to Huska explaining his decision to start Vladar. There's really nothing he can say for me.
Vladar won the battle of sieves in Buffalo. Not an NHL goalie and tired of accepting it because Markstrom can be brutal too. Wolf time no doubt.

Bring up Wolf.
Kadri, Dube and Huberdeau should not play together.
Next game I would like to see the following:
Against the Rags I would like to see the following :
Ruzicka-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Dube-Backlund-Coleman
Huberdeau-Shaggy-Coronato
Greer-Kadri-Deuhr

Because Tre gave him a $4.4M contract. Hopefully he and our goalie coach would be able to address shots high, especially on the short side.

Time to rebuild. Give it ten games if you need to but I think the results will be the same.

And the fact that every local media personality has been banging the table saying they need to hold on to him and get a 2nd rounder is absurd. At a 2.2 million cap hit for the level of goaltending he's provided the last several months of play I would just lose him for free to any taker.

I cant seem to recall, when does Montreal get our 1st round pick? 24 or 25? cant recall the specifics. Man, Treliving left this team as a horrible mess, Milburyesque.

Guys it's the same team as last year except
1) with a worse coach
2) losing their top goal scorer
3) with all the core players one year older and most post-apex
What did you expect?

As Huska is trying to establish a system, it’s probably a time to ride Markstrom. Going forward, Vladar is not going to be the number 1 so it’s no point rotating him in that often.
Markstrom gives them the best chance right now to establish a system.

They just need to stop making it worse for themselves.
Stop handing out extensions.
