Put in a claim on Billy Sweezy for name reasons alone.

I can't read Jonny Brodzinski and not hear it in 90's Paulie Shore's voice. It just sounds like something he would say.

In an alternate universe where Sutter is running the Flames, he'd claim him though.

Quote:
Notable about the 30-year-old is he has 160 career shots on goal while averaging just 10:01 minutes ice time, so he’s an aggressive player who’s not afraid to aim for the net even if his shooting percentage is only 5.6%. The Hartford captain has also accumulated 92 hits during his NHL time, adding to the impression he’s an assertive presence on the ice.
A couple of days ago, it sounded like he was going to make the team out of camp. Maybe an upgrade over Hunt?

Quote:
Head coach Peter Laviolette seems to have taken notice of Brodzinski’s play style during training camp and had this to say after the home preseason game against the NJ Devils, prior to the away game versus the NY Islanders:

“Really good impressions. I thought he and his line the other night were excellent,” Laviolette praised. “It’s his speed, his tenacity… That’s the fourth look for him. Those are earned, too. They’re not just given, they’re earned and I think he’s played really well.”

Denisenko just doesn't have another gear. I had high hopes for him but his development has completely stalled since he was drafted. He shows some flashes but so does almost any tweener. Samoskevich, the Panthers' first round pick from two years ago who is a rookie, already is better than Denisenko and has passed him on the depth chart. Maybe he is a late bloomer but the guy just doesn't do anything great. Such a bland, forgettable player.

Im not big on him or anything, but if our 6/7 is going to be Oesterle/Gilbert, would Caleb Jones make sense?

Yeah Denisenko isn't even close to a PPG level in the AHL. He's talented, but being a little smaller he doesn't seem to have the drive to get the puck back from guys who want it more. I'd go one further than Saqe and say that he's actually regressed rather than flatlined as a prospect. His first stint in the NHL indicated some promise, but he's looked worse in subsequent seasons. It's not someone I would pick up until he shows more even just in the AHL.

I agree with sureLoss- I’m a big fan of Wade Allison, and I’ve suggested trading for him before. I’m worried that injuries have taken a lot out of him, but he plays a nice heavy style that we could use.

I think Allison would make for an interesting claim. Especially over Hunt.

He could give you 4th line minutes with potential to play up the line up if he can stay healthy.
Yeah, it wasn't directed at you. And no one has said that in the same post. But some fairly long time posters are saying "get rid of Dube" (or other mid roster guys) and I think there's an overlap in the Venn when you see waiver wire players come up.

if he plays a heavy game, then he might fit on the 4th line, moreso than Schwindt?

I've never really been a fan of Dube and would happily drive him to the airport in exchange for a RHS of equal talent/skill/production.

Not sure where to put this, but Lassi Thomson (recently claimed off waivers by Anaheim from Ottawa) not making a great impression on his new team:

Denisenko was given all the opportunity for several years to break out, it wasn't going to happen with the Panthers. Now he was passed by Samoskevich and even Sourdif, who is still with the main group and showed more. Maybe change of scenery is something that he needs, who knows, but he has always been an enigma. Just looks like a lazy player to me.

Lots of speculation that the Deniskenko claim likely means the end of Comtois' PTO with the Knights.

Yeah I was hoping to keep Denisenko because of his potential, but there really is a lack of NHL level effort in him. That's a big red flag in a prospect. Guys can make the NHL with low skill and a ton of heart and effort, but low effort will never keep you in the NHL long no matter how talented you are.

I want to wish Denisenko the best, but Vegas won their cup on the backs of players they stole/were gifted from Florida, so I cannot wish them any further success with Panthers players.

Vegas gonna continue to fudge the system. Over the cap and claiming waiver guys, league doesn't care. Robin Lehner has made a mess of his finances and doesn't feel like playing hockey right now, that's ok, we will just stuff him on LTIR again. I actually hate that franchise more than the Oilers at this point, the Oilers are like the rich kid at school who has everything given to him but still F's it up..Vegas is like that kid who is the school bully, cheats on every test and gets away with it, treats everyone like crap yet all the hot chicks like him, breaks all the rules, and gets rewarded for it.
