Yeah it could be his collar bone which is usually 2- 2 1/2 months.

Best case scenario is broken bone and not labrum or something torn.

I thought it was Pelts that put himself in a vulnerable situation. What was the Seattle player supposed to do? Shy away from contact at the last split second when he's fighting for a job. I don't think any goon will help with that.

As for Pelletier I hope he has the surgery and recovers soon. I'd like to see him in the lineup this season.

Pelletier is going to be damn tired of riding the bike waiting for his shoulder to get better.

I agree Pelletier put himself in a bad position the way he stopped 3-4 feet from the end boards in that spot. Just skate into the boards and protect yourself and likely it's just a routine hit / bounce off and continue play.

I'm gutted for him though--he really looked eager to have a good year.

Having a goon in the lineup would have prevented neither the hit, nor the outcome.

Very unfortunate but injuries happen and the Flames have been generally pretty lucky for the most part over recent seasons compared to other teams that have been decimated by injuries. Hopefully he recovers quickly and can get into a bunch of games in the back half of the season.

It was Studenic from Seattle who did it.

Flames have been so healthy the last few years. You kind of forget the impact that long term injuries can have.

Well, they were without one of their top-four defenseman for the entire year last year.

Damn, was hoping Pelletier would rotate between 2nd and 3rd line duties.

Even if it's posed as a 5 - 6 month recovery period, doesn't it seem like it usually takes a player a good year to get back to normal?

Wish for a speedy recovery.

Opens the door for other players. Pelletier will come back and work his way back up the lineup. I kind of view him as Frolik, can move up and down the lineup at ease.

This blows ....but it IMHO opens the door for someone to step In and hopefully match this kids enthusiasm.
Have you ever seen a kid with a bigger smile than MAF cheer up a.pouting Huberdeau? I kid I kid.....but Pelts Infectious attitude and enthusiasm needs to be something embraced with this new culture in Calgary in the Conroy/Iggy/Savard Era

I doubt that OK would have slotted ahead of Hanifin, Tanev, Weegar or Andersson. But yeah he is one guy that they didn't have the entire year.

Think of all the games they played where the opposition was missing multiple defensemen every night. Seems to me Flames have been very blessed on the injury front in general the last few years.

Look at last year. Every regular played between 79 and 82 games except for Tanev with 65 games. That is insane.

I think that Lucic's presence in the lineup was part of the reason that the Flames didn't have too many injuries.
