Yeah, I like Seminoff as well, hope we didn’t mess that one up. Seminoff had an excellent WHL Playoff performance, and was great in the Memorial Cup.

To be fair, every GM in the league covets size. It not a Burke thing. The Flames, under Treliving, weren’t shy about drafting smaller players either. Treliving would often say that they prioritized being able to think the game and competitiveness. There may be some deviation under Conroy but I don’t think it will be significant. Based on his first draft, he may cover size more than Treliving. The change I hope we see is an appetite to acquire and keep more picks than Treliving did.

Plus 4th round picks are pretty much turned over to the scouting staff aren't they? Same process that chose say Andrew Mangiapane.

Scouts thought it was the best pick.

Their record in recent drafts suggest they seem to know what they're doing.

When he fills out this lanky kid could be pretty good. He's obviously put in the work if Conny got him locked up.

Some prospect sites have his ascension in the last 3.years climbing pretty swiftly.

I'm sure they all liked Bell but I know for a fact the head scout was high on Seminoff, some scouts had him in the late 2nd or early 3rd round, amazing that Dallas got him in the 6th.

Emilio Pettersen Stalling?

I agree with it all, other than Pettersen. I was close to writing him off as well, but now I have him in the 'progressing' side of the line. He has steadily improved every year so far, even if it hasn't come as quickly as I hoped that it would. Hopefully he takes another step forward, but as of right now, I don't think I would have him as stalled.

Progressing but highly unlikely to be an NHLer in my view

Sure, but progressing ≠ guaranteed NHL'er, and I was not making that point one way or the other.
