I'd put him in the 30-40 point bracket personally. I guess we'll see, it depends heavily also on how the team is doing and how they will deploy him (like the PP1 vs PP2 difference is huge).

Quite the Calgary flavor to the top of that list. Makar, Fox and Dougie all sitting in top 12.

He looked pretty good at it in the WC's, the homer vote got it but he was the tourney MVP

I know I'm a "biased Panther fan" but that's really good GMing in my books. No wonder Zito trades first rounders like candy when he has a nose for finding talent for almost no cost.

Forsling off waivers was an insane pickup.

And then prior to that, Clendening for Forsling. One for one, that's the trade.

Yeah. He really took a big step under coach Q like many others too.

Weegar is top 5 in the league over the last three years for xGF%.
Just gets it done.
Not sure I see him as the offensive guy going forward, his instincts didn't seem to be there to me, but when it comes to nothing bad happening when you're out there, and getting the puck up the ice he's elite.
A team with four Mackenzie Weegars wouldn't lose a game.

Paying 2.7 for 9.4 in market value seems like pretty a decent strategy to me. I don't know the full story behind why Carolina waived him, but yeesh.

Carolina was overloaded with defensemen at that time IIRC. Forsling was a bit raw when he got to Florida but it's amazing what a good coach can do to a player and his confidence. And really quickly too.
But now he'll get a big raise like Montour, interesting to actually see what they get. Both are UFAs in a year.

Undersized, drafted in the 5th round... probably been undervalued his whole career. These are the guys I like to see finally get paid.
Add: Great coaching helps for sure, but as Spider-Man's uncle always says, "With great coaching, there must also be great coachability."

Yeah, I don't care a whole lot about points from a Dman, especially one not on the power play. He'd probably get a lot of 3rd assists on passes up ice.
The trouble with lists of Dmen is they are too offence heavy. I think I would take Weegar over Hamilton on my team.
