Read this thread title quickly and thought Paul Bunyan had retired. Carry on.

In the 2014 bold predictions thread, I said Byron would score at least 15 goals and 40 points. I was a couple of years too early, and wrong team, but I count it as a prediction fulfilled. It was stupid to put him on waivers as you could tell he was teetering on becoming a more productive player.

I know someone who works for the Flames mentioning how angry guys were in the room once he was gone. Heart and soul doesn't even cover it.
We've seen to few a player like that in Calgary . Byron was always memorable in my mind for the good little things he did as a team mate, silent leader .
When I think of good all around players I think of Yelle, Gelinas, Patterson, Robert's, Kipper....all guys who you never had to worry about making sure we had the best chance to win and always showed up and did things no one else was doing.
Byron was one of those guys. He got concussion issues after he left here and I am glad he's okay. Bottom line ....walk away intact.

Complete opposite of that other guy who came in the trade with him. Marshmallow man.

Byron was also a clincher in many Montreal games and some important ones. Liked him very much when he was in Calgary.

Byron was always one of my favorite players. He developed very well through our system, and when he finally made it to the Flames, I always thought his exceptional speed and tenacity played a significant role in our team's success. Losing him to the Habs was a huge disappointment for me as a season ticket holder. It seemed obvious to me that there was something missing in the team after he left.
I think his hard work, and his success as an NHL player, make him an excellent role model for smaller players. It was certainly a pleasure to have him on our team, even for a short time, and I wish him all the best in his retirement.

Carved out a pretty great career for himself based on pure effort. Never should have had an NHL sniff but he forced his way in. Good for him. All the best in retirement.

Saw him hanging out with Johnny and the other young players at a Flames poker tourney. You could tell that they were all pretty tight and he had some good swagger.
I think the Flames have suffered over the years from losing a few guys who weren’t stars on ice but were important in the locker room

I’ve always cheered the little guy, probably due to Theoren Fleury growing up.
Was a big fan of Byron when he was here and was happy to see him have success with the Habs.
Congrats on the solid NHL career. Well done Paulstar!
