Sadly, I doubt they s***-canned the people who annoy us the most rather than the people who actually do some of the important work.

All the major corps involved in the Canadian oligopoly oligarchy of Canada need to urgently review their customer services.
Being on hold for hours and having no other real options for certain key services like telecommunications or banking is not reasonable and should be outlawed and codified into law. There should be regulated minimums for phone holding procedures in this country of like a maximum of 30 mins and that people MUST have access to a human being by pushing 0.
Further these basically evil corporations at this point would actually find their revenues might increase if they actually put any half ass effort into customer service. Just bull####.

I turned on Telus's anti spam call feature and it works so well that it blocks out Telus's own robocallers. Haven't had an unwanted call in years.

Dude. I dont disagree with you in principle, but in practice?
The Government can tell companies they have to do whatever.
But...have you tried phoning the Canada Revenue Agency?
How about applying for EI? Maybe even just trying to get your CPP?
Our own Government, whom people want to see regulating this kind of nonsense are, without question, the worst perpetrators of it.

I have and you’re right.
Canadians need to demand better customer service writ large. This country is like third world level in its customer service.

We just get the regular door-to-door guys trying to sell us Telus Fibre. I wonder what the uptake has been on that. We don't do a lot of uploading, so it's not worth it for us, but Telus must have put a lot of money into that.

I had a rental property that needed internet and TV Aug 1st. Since I already had a Telus account, I thought I would leverage it.
Scheduled it a month in advance. They show up and said the building has fiber but they can't figure out where it is on my floor. They leave and say their fiber construction team will be scheduled to come in and pull it from somewhere as a priority.
The tenant has now already moved in. I had to get them Shaw instead and when I call Telus they don't know what I'm talking about. They also mailed a TV box to the wrong address because the agent used one of those "let me suggest you an address" functions in their CRM and its presumably lost in the mail.
All these services are still on my My Telus account but I can't edit or change any of the package items, it just get a red bar on top of the screen "sorry an error occurred, please try again". I will flip if I get billed.

Those guys going door-to-door with cereal boxes that say 'Fibre' on them are scammers.
Just FYI.

Fibre is a huge scam. You pay a load of money, put something in your mouth, and it comes back out the other end! Talk about flushing money straight down the toilet.

Aside from the complaints about customer service, I assume the Bank of Canada is happy to see this news. Havent they said the unemployment rate is too low?

If you are a streamer or host a server, Telus Purefiber offers symmetical speeds while Shaw is typically asymmetrical.
IE: Telus could be 500 upload, 500 download. Shaw would be 30 upload, 500 download etc.

They are owned by Rogers now - so if they were good before I'm sure they will get worse.

I’ve had Telus fibre in two locations, one in Calgary, and one in Saanich (still waiting for it to come to me in Esquimalt).
It’s by far the most reliable internet I’ve ever had, as long as I don’t use their default router. It would have issues with IPv6 addresses.
Since switching to using my own mesh router, it was so much better. Constant gigabit speed. Both up and down.

I'm not going to defend telus here, but, there's no way any coax internet is faster than a fibre optic.

Yeah, I don't know what's wrong in his neighbourhood but my connection on speedtest is 338 Mbps download and 332 Mbps upload and I haven't had one issue in 3 years since I got fiber, my only issue with telus is they have ghost billings and terrible customer service.
