No no no... one franchise has the storied tradition of the white out that has been going on for 46 years (first arising as a knock-off effort to counter the Flames' fans impressive adornment of red).
The other franchise was some late era expansion team that started copying the white out about in the 2015 playoffs.

What does the Yotes signing Logan Cooley have to do with a Flames message board?
The best prospect of the 2022 draft entering the league has some. significance I'd think. Let's be real here, this is an NHL forum first, Flames forum second.
Jordan is the strangest semi-troll on the site lol. I think they got jilted on Calgary or something. Trying too hard to pump up Arizona and the Coyotes on a Flames forum.
Jilted?? Is that even a word? I'm a die hard Flames fan since 2000
Everyone knows the whiteout belongs to Winnipeg. Do the Coyotes seriously think that’s theirs?
I mean, the current coyotes were the jets that made the white out famous. Should traditions stay with the city or the club? The current jets are of course the thrashers, with no worthwhile traditions I can think of.

IMO with the city. It is the transitions of the fans, not the club.

Most players drafted in the 2022 and 2023 NHL drafts have signed ELCs with their teams, I don't see threads for each of those signings.
It's only even something that gets a second glance because it was a question mark that he would even be willing to sign with the gongshow that is the Coyotes organization that somehow is still allowed to play out of a college arena even though they have no plans for a real arena.

Am I in some crazy universe where people don't know that the Coyotes are actually the original Jets, and this was the franchise the White Out was started for?
I'm not saying Winnipeg shouldn't do it because it belongs to Airzona now, but it's not like it's a stretch that Arizona continues their own tradition.
Just wondering, when the original Winnipeg Jets do the White Out, it's because "white out" is a Winnipeg thing? I mean, during winter, all you can see in Winnipeg is white out? You don't call them Winterpeg for nothing, right?
Now, the team moved to Arizona, yeah, they can still use the original team's tradition, but it lack meaning. I mean, since when does Arizona has white out? What's their "white out" signifies? It became what bdubbs pointed to, just waving white flags.

This is getting a little much. The Coyotes are the "original" Jets, but the team has to give out white shirts for people to do the whiteout. It's fake. In the 80s the Jets marketing saw the Flames C of red (which happened for maybe 1 or 2 playoffs before 2004) and suggested fans counter the Flames fans wearing red with a white out, u know, snow stuff. The fans embraced it and it's become a cultural thing of being a Winnipegger and Jets fan. No one has ever had to give out a white shirt at a Jets game. When the Coyotes do it, its forced, silly, and copying the city of Winnipeg. When Tampa did it in response to Calgarys C of red, it was forced, silly, and a poor comparable. The C of Red disappeared in the 90s, as an aside. I don't remember any of that happening in the 94 playoffs or the 90s at all.

The fact remains, we’ve had the largest White Out’s compared to Winnipeg. We also will have the smallest this year..
