Liked him as a character guy that gave a good effort every shift
But at the end of the day, his size without an elite skill set will always slot him as 6-7 dman at best

Meh. Don’t see Gilbert as an NHL player tbh. More like a guy you keep on the farm as insurance for injuries. But we’ll see what they do.

I thought he did well as a Flame, but I don't think what we saw in that stretch is what he would be over a full season. He is a solid #6 guy though. I was worried we would over pay him, so kind of relieved.

So far so good. No need to bring any old UFA.

Would be interested to see the dollars, if its under 1 million he probably just didn't want to be here because we could have easily matched or maybe we didn't want him back.

Irresponsible dog owners of Calgary ruined Stetcher's desire to sign in Calgary.

It's Calgary, or no one. He's said it for years. Family lives here full time, not moving them.

IMO, he looked better than Stone defensively. He also seemed to be improving, and didn't look out of place(in sheltered minutes).

Dammit, once again, Flames gave away assets for nothing!

If the Flames are trying to repair the dressing room, this is probably a good move based on his post-season comments - very pro-Sutter and a little arrogant considering how short of a time he was here:

“I’m a player that works hard and keeps my mouth shut, and he’s a coach that really respects that and expects the best out of you. And if you’re gonna pout and you’re gonna complain, which I don’t think I do as an individual, then you’re obviously going to hear from him."

He could have been simply talking in general terms, rather than that being a dig at other players.

Yes, well, Flames got back the other Ritchie for Ritchie, but still hate losing assets for nothing. Kind of stupid rental problem the Flames have when they have no business trying to make the playoffs when chances are they're not gonna make it anyway. I'm hoping Tre does the same thing with TO and they're gonna be screwed in the coming years. Guess Flames still have Stone in the back pocket as one of the few right shot D-men.
