Confusing off-season for the Preds.

This seems like a good deal in a vacuum and then you remember they bought out Duchene to do it...yeah.

I wonder if Tree doesn't come back to Calgary to pick up Mr. Backlund?

I don't think Ryan O'Reilly is anywhere near this contract worth. I'd say it's a bad signing. He's slowed down a lot the past couple years and just doesn't have that touch. 4 years is too long at that price. You're signing him for the name, when he's about a $3M these days. JMHO of course.

Lol makes the Kadri look worse though in my opinion

Kadri was coming off a 100 point season (pace) and a cup he was a major contributor to last season

Personally, no. Kadri was such a bunch in the gut. Despite putting up a career high was never going to do that well going forward. To sign for so much money for so long plus giving a 1st for Monahan was simply a terrible deal all over.

With Tre wanting to bring RoR back, I wonder if he tries to swing a deal for Backlund?

I doubt Flames ownership is enthusiastic about any deal with Treliving in the near term.

I don't think they care. If you feel the deal is good for your team the history doesn't matter nor should it.

The Preds just traded away their top 2 centres. They weren’t going to start next season with Cody Glass as their #1 C. Even if you’re rebuilding you need to have veterans in the lineup to play hard minutes and support prospects. RoR and Schenn are exactly the kinds of players you want playing those roles. I like the signings.

Maybe...but it's also likely political where Conroy can read the room and may not want to go to ownership to approve a large deal. Hard to say but I think politics has it's part in all this.
