Some decent names not qualified this year, same as last year.
Definitely helps with the UFA class. , though some/many of these players might end up re-signing with their original teams itself

Ryan Poehling did not get qualified by the Pens.
Remember when he was supposed to be the next star for the Canadiens?

I like Geekie and would be interested in seeing him with the Flames although because of the rebuild position the Flames are in it might not make sense. But he is young so could be a good piece to have on the team in 3 years.

I would be taking a shot on one of McLeod, Geekie or Jost. Especially if one or both of Lindholm and Backlund are out the door soon. The center depth is not great if either of those guys go.
McLeod is a geat skater and is really good in the faceoff circle, limited offense though.
Geekie is big and plays hard, has some skill.
I am not sure what happened with Jost, thought he showed a good blend of skill and hockey IQ at the WJC, but it just hasn't translated. I would still give him another shot to see if he could turn things around.

Bit of market correction happening on veteran depth-type players. Teams walking away rather than giving raises.

I could see Edmonton offering McLeod a deal to have the pair.

McLeod was excellent in the playoffs for the Devils. Makes me wonder.

He was on Team Canada at the 2018 World Juniors. I wouldn’t be surprised if it has something to do with that

Grier looking to be in over his head. It’s only a 7th if he loses him but it’s Freddie modin level which is embarrassing.

Good for Pospisil. Plays a rambunctious game. If he can stay healthy, the Flames may have a player there.

I continue to root for him. Has all the traits of a dream bottom 6 player. He could be similar to a guy like Ferland if he could just stay healthy

I like Sprong. He has a great shot.
Seattle did the same thing to him last year. They didn't qualify him, but ended up re-signing him later. He was also a respectable plus 13 and only had 11:25 minutes of ice time per game. He is 12th in the league for points per minute for players that played more than 2 games.
I don't know what it is about him, maybe he is a jerk or something. He seems like a good money ball kind of player.
