One of my faves. His passion for / knowledge of the game is virtually unparalleled. Loved him as a commentator on the Flames TV broadcasts.

After Whalen and Maher, Loubo is the voice of the Calgary Flames for me.
Sad to see he is moving on, but happy it sounds like he's heading off to do something new for himself.

No I don't, I thought he was the TV narrator. He is an awesome dude though. I do like him for that.

Says he's staying closer to home, I'd imagine something with the OHL. Either way, all the best. He was informative, entertaining, frustrating and yet endearing. He'll be missed around here.

Good luck to him, hope his next gig is a great one, anybody who comes into the Flames family and throws themselves fully into it the way he did has my respect. Feels like he was one of us in the end.

One of my favorite memories of Lou doing pbp is him describing the sound of a shot hitting a post as “doink”. He was great for coming up with cute, original calls like that.
All the best Lou. Hope you stick around Calgary in some media capacity.

One of the highest quality people in the business.
I think a lot of what is happening in broadcasting is that media companies are telling their talent "we can't pay you what we have been, here's what we CAN pay you" and with the trade off those jobs create with other parts of your life, it just stops making sense. So that's why you see so much talent leaving the business. It just doesn't work anymore.

You never get into your own story, I am very curious. I know you went back into this world (doing play by play for Roughnecks, etc) but not sure where you are now, but I bet its very interesting. Same with Mango, she seems to be doing awesome, just curious on your thoughts on this business?

Needs more pauses throughout it to allow every half sentence to fully......sink in. And I say that in a positive way as I always enjoyed Loubo, he's definitely a character.
One word: happy trails!

The good news is, I don't expect Loubardias to be leaving the business. Flames job? Yes. But he's the lead PXP on the Brick Invitational in Edmonton next week (succeeding me in that role, in fact — big upgrade) and I would rest assured knowing that the new gig he mentioned will enable him to continue to do what he truly loves, which is following prospects in their journey toward becoming professionals.
Lou ain't leaving the hockey world. Not by a long shot.

Not a fan of Loubardias, personally. Every time he speaks I get the impression that he thinks he's talking to children.

The Roughnecks thing was something I had been building while I was working full time at 660news. My thought was the team was undercovered, and if I created a podcast and built a relationship with the team, perhaps that could lead to a bigger opportunity. So we got agreement to do a podcast. In Year 1 I would just get clips in the lockeroom and piece it together. Dull.
In Year 2 I brought in a new co-host and we decided to try and do something more like After Hours and have the players sit down with us after the game and try to get them to really open up and have a real conversation. That was a success. And sure enough a few years into that they needed someone to do their web casts, which over the years led to opportunities on TSN, ESPN, etc.
At the same time I realized I had to go and get a real job b/c the pay was so poor. This was when I also got married and wanted to start a family. It just didn't make sense financially. So I left 660 and went to work for my company.
Now I do some of the games, b/c if TSN is doing the game they fly in their own guys, which makes sense. But it's my little hobby on the side.
