The Canucks were a mess so instead the Flames decided to collect Giants players from Vancouver.

Lipinski is not fleet-of-foot, with sluggish speed and acceleration, and his agility is not great, but the good news is that he's smart, plays a physical 200-ft game, and perhaps most importantly- he has gained confidence carrying the puck by greatly developing his puck-protection skills. Lipinski will move the puck up ice by shielding the puck with his body, arms, and rear-end, and this skill helps him in all 3 zones, in traffic, and in tight spaces. He doesn't need to just put the puck off the glass, or dump it in- he has confidence in puck possession. He won't be confused with teammate Sam Honzek, but he has a reasonable offensive toolkit, and some IQ and vision in all situations to go along with it. The Giants don't hesitate to use him on both sides of special teams. He has good hands, will go to the net, and not surprisingly, he's a down-low force, and a nightmare along the boards. Some big players don't use their size, but that's not a problem with Lipinski- he throws his weight around, and uses it to win pucks for his team. Defensively, he has the anticipation to know where to position himself to limit time and space for attackers, and has that physicality plus an active stick. If Lipinski can improve his speed, suddenly you have a very good prospect with a shot at bottom-6 duty, and the potential for even more. 4th round.

Could be a great add to the bottom 6 center position and the PK

Upside had him ranked 96th in our Final Rankings.
Hockey Prospect had him 70th.
Bobby Maragarite 89th.
Button 80th.

I'd have preferred more boom/bust with our 4th rounder, as we seem to have a thing for 4th rounders turning out OK, but we'll see how this bigrig does. Watching his highlights, he kinda has a bit of Lucic hunch about him.

As usual, I await CBL's take on this pick before making an informed decision on whether or not I like it.

It's the 4th round. Everyone has flaws at this point. Arguably, skating is the one that's the easiest to fix with dedicated coaching.

I would imagine that Iggie has had a good chance to look at and coach against these BC players.

Taking a gander at the CP prospect rankings last year:
1. Wolf, Dustin 39.4%
2. Pelletier, Jakob 62.8%
3. Coronato, Matthew 82.8%
4. Zary, Connor 39.9%
5. Ruzicka, Adam 43.1%
6. Valimaki, Juuso 27.9%
7. Kerins, Rory 56.9% (Run Off)
8. Mackey, Connor (Run Off Loss)
9. Poirier, Jeremie 48.6%
10. Schwindt, Cole 46.9%
Pelletier is 5'10
Coronato is 5'10
Zary is 6'0
The rest of the forwards are probably lower line guys (could add Phillips 5'8 and Pettersen 5'10 to skill guy prospects) - so some skilled size was probably needed. Topi Ronni is 6'2 and last year's 2nd round pick - no idea what kind of prospect he is though.
