Everytime I watch him I get Blake Comeau vibes.

He skates the puck up the ice, gets behind the opposition's net and losses the puck to a defender.

Obviously a more skilled Comeau but I still see a lot of similarities.

Kadri was one of my most disliked players in the league pre signing with the flames. His antics at end of season made it so with room to spare.

Yeah I guess i'm not overly sold on Newhook. Even if the Avs keep the picks, I'd take these two bullets in the chamber over Newhook's ceiling. They get two shots in a solid draft, perhaps look at taking some homerun swings.

They're a really good team but missing a huge part in Landeskog. I wonder if they hold these picks and do a bit of a reload with their picks in the '23 draft.

Habs obviously trying to speed up their rebuild. If it were possible, I would think it would have been better to try and package multiple 2nd round picks and that 31st overall pick to get another first round pick higher up in the draft (in the 23rd to 26th overall range).

Yup. That’s why I wasn’t too hot on a Lindholm to the Avs trade as Newhook probably would have been an important piece to it. He’s fast and that’s about it so far

They only have a couple years to make hay with Rantanen at 9.25, and one before Toews wants a lot of money. But maybe they think they can compete this year with just adding Johansen and filling in the bottom 6 with kids and bargain UFAs.

Avalanche were desperate for a centre to step up and fill Kadri's shoes last year, if Newhook was capable, they wouldn't be trading him nor acquiring RyJo.

I think it's an overpay by the Habs, and I like it.
