Chychrun replacement. As in the next D that will ask for a trade out of Arizona.

My guess is LA would be unable to meet his contract demands for 2024 and beyond, thus selling him now and utilizing Clarke or another prospect on the bottom pairing. Not much cap savings, but at some point Clarke will be their future.

Oh, now that's an interesting idea.
Often, when a team has multiple draft picks in a round, the trade conditions will indicate the trade is the highest or lowest draft pick the team owns (like the Monahan conditions). Before this deal, Arizona held their own pick plus Florida's, Washington's, and Montreal's, so it is interesting to see that it's specifically Montreal's pick that was traded.
This year, any offer sheet with an AAV between $6,435,187 and $10,725,314 will require a 2024 second rounder as compensation. This does effectively take Montreal out of the offer sheet game for Dubois.

Bernstein saying the Kings are clearing space for a bigger. Perhaps some Flames players?

Flames fans want Konecny so it’s likely he goes to LA instead.

I don’t get, only a $1.7 million cap hit for a promising younger player. Maybe Kings planning to make moves and don’t think they can extend him but geez, his cap hit this year is nothing. For context, his AAV would be seventh highest on Flames back end.

Plot twist: LA is getting Montreal’s 2nd to give it back to them for profit.

Chicago had Toronto’s second round pick and Toronto needed it so they could at least threaten an offer sheet for Phil Kessel, forcing Boston to trade him to them.
Chicago traded that pick for an earlier pick, being Calgary’s, and picked Brandon Saab.

I thought Durzi was a main piece in LA; very surprising and very cheap.
Good moves Yotes.

Good move by Arizona. Feel bad for Durzi though.
