Backlund retained would return a lot more he's still a very good player especially for next season.

Obviously this isn't a comparable for Lindholm or Backlund.
Reclamation cap dump is what's happened here.

Backlund has value. But this is Nashville giving a 4 million dollar RyJo away for nothing.

I was just going by what my Preds friend said when I asked. Said he was playing through injuries all the time and then the Achilles injury might have done him in.

This is why waiting for Lindholm to make up his mind is ####ing everything else up. That’s one prime destination for Backlund gone. The draft trading frenzy is a game of musical chairs, and if you wait too long all the chairs will be gone.

He makes $8mil per and hasn’t hit 70 points since 2014/15. And that was the only time. He’s a 50-60 point 2nd line centre making $8,000,000…. He’s not in the same category of any of the Flames trade pieces.

One bidder gone for sure. Who else is out there, Boston?

They have an aging/beat up core and not a ton of stuff in the farm. I doubt they were looking to spend much in this position.

I don't think Colorado ever made sense for Lindholm. Whoever trades for him will want him long term in my opinion. I still have Columbus as a spot for him assuming he'd sign there. Carolina as well.
I am not worried about Backlund finding a home. He'd fit on pretty much any playoff contender if the Flames take a dump back or retain.

It’s pretty clear the Avs had no intention of trading anything of value for their 2nd line centre. They traded the rights to Galchenyuk?!?!?
Backlund and Lindholm were never an option for Colorado.

Lindholm, no. But with one season on his contract, Backlund looked like an excellent fit. The Avs have been rumoured to be looking to deal Girard for a while, and maybe a three-way deal involving a team like Montreal could have been worked out.

We won't be giving away players.
Conroy watched Burke fire Feaster for being a push over and not getting back value for our assets.

A bunch of deals are going to get done in the next 5 days. Teams that aren’t at least laying the groundwork now are going to get left out.

I would like to be left out of bad trades
The market for Lindholm is no different than it was an hour ago
