Please acquire some more 1sts for this year's draft.
If all of these guys questionable to re-sign start the season with the Flames I'll be really disappointed. If guys don't have interest in being here then don't have them in the room with guys who (hopefully) do.

There is a good way for this organization to change its fortunes and it is yelling at them in the face.

Man this is wild.
"Backlund REALLY wants to be Captain"
"Backlund, REALLY leaning on no re-signing"
Did they shut that idea down or something? I'm all for letting him go and compete for a cup mind you, I could see Backlund going to the AVS now.

Another one I'm on the fence. He's been awesome but may be time to move on. He has value to be maximized.

If it were 1 "insiderrr" I'd believe it, but over half of them are all saying the same thing now.

Funny how all the guys who "refused" to be back if Darryl was behind the bench will likely be gone.

When you say rebuild - do you mean landing high draft picks?
Because the Flames need to do more than just trade guys who are going to UFA's next year to do a full rebuild.
The Blackhawks had the 3rd worst record last year - their leading scorer was Max Domi in 60 games. They had Petr Mrazek as their main goalies.
The Flames are going to be better than that with Kadri, Huberdeau and all of our good defenseman.
You have to be god awful to land a low pick. The Flames trading all those UFAs are still in the Philly type area which gets you the 7th pick.

This was already a pretty bad team with very few injuries, even if Huberdeau bounces back, we will be even worse without Hanifin and Lindholm.
With that said, I'm not expecting a bottom 5 finish. Turning veteran assets into picks/prospects is my hope and drafting well with the picks we have.

I imagine there may be some bitterness to why Sutter was allowed to coach through the season or how their complaints were addressed during the season. It's not surprising that employees who just went through a year of a bad working environment may want a fresh start especially watching Tkachuk and Bennett in the playoffs having a great time in sunny Florida.

You really just gotta offload these guys. If they're humming and hawing about if they want to be on the Calgary Flames or not, then they aren't the type of guys you want in the room being leaders of the team.
This is the second offseason in a row there's a clear opportunity to move towards some sort of rebuild.

They'd have to have a special brand of hubris not to trade these three guys for a pretty impressive collection of futures at this point.

Eh, it's all a chain reaction from Tre mismanaging the Guadreau contract. I think if Gaudreau gets signed in the summer before they blew up then Tkachuk re-signs. If am one of the UFAs and I want to win, I wouldn't be confident betting on the team after this past season.

We all realize rebuilds don't happen at one draft. I'm committed to a five year rebuild or whatever it takes. There was nothing out of last season for me to cling to as something I would be happy with going forward and as of today the ceiling of this team isn't a lot higher than last season even with a new coach. Hell as a fan isn't cheering for a basement team. Hell as a fan is cheering for the perennial 14-18 team treading water and doing the same things over and over.

Yeah, I will just disengage next season if they don't trade anyone and hope for a run. They'll suck me back in if they make playoffs of course lol.
Weegar, Andersson, and all the UFAs all have value and can kick off a heck of a rebuild.

Get Young, Weaponize the cap space and flexibility. From an outside perspective it would appear the hand is being forced. Teams make stupid moves all the time out of desperation.

Ultimately the players forcing the franchise into a rebuild is probably the best thing at this point. A lot of these guys have significant value and we could be looking at a very quick turn around with a much younger core come 2-3 years.
