I believe in the Jays.
|
1: Flames use their own pick to draft Yager, acquire another pick in the 1st round but one is flipped in another trade, draft twice in round two.

Jarome Iginla steps up to the podium and announces the first pick. Conroy magnanimously yields the spotlight to his pal.

At #3, you aren't getting a McDavid level player, but it's more of an Eichel situation with #2 and #3 this year.
|
I'd pick Eichel any day if it brought back at least one Cup before McDavid does!

Top 3 on the 2023 draft would be a very bold positive return

Flames take advantage of the stupidity at the top of the draft trade their way into the Michkov pick (who should still be a lock to go 2nd but is Russian/small/winger), knowing he's a generational talent and well worth the wait.

Of course here will be.
My point was that you need to compare picks #2-#5 to previous #1 picks.
They will not be surrendered very easily.
And I expect picks directly after that (such as Washington's #8) will not get traded until after they see who is potentially available with that pick (being Miskov of course).

Until they get into an NHL game any of them COULD be the next Jack Eichel or the next Nail Yakupov. You never truly know.

Flames end up picking 16th,17th and 20th.
Take Yager, Simashev and Cristall. Bells ring in the streets, Flames fans rejoice and all is well in the world.

Flames do the opposite and trade a pair of late round picks for a second rounder.

Flames trade their first round pick. The player selected with their pick becomes an all-star.

This would be a monster draft for the flames if they pick 3 times in the top 20… even if it wasn’t those particular players. There is a lot of talent in this draft so there are some great options.
