Thanks Brad for fixing the farm system. It was an absolute chaotic disjointed mess of insane travel via Abbotsford, then distance from club via Adirondack before he arrived. Then there were the completely different coaching mandates and styles in the AHL.
Thanks Brad for spending the time to improve prospect development. This includes revising the format of the summer camps to improve player education, improving player resources and reducing stigma for mental health and substance abuse.

Wish him the best and hope it's an Eastern team that he has any future success with. I think he's a quality person.

It didn't help he had some really difficult distractions during his tenure with the whole Wideman and Peters incidents. He navigated those hard times quite well.

He handled most everything at a level of professionalism that isn’t outmatched in the league.
Remember when he stood by Tkachuk to talk to the media about his suspension? I’ve never seen something like that.

Thanks Tre. His Flames team performance was average overall but he brought a respectability back to the organsiation that was severely lacking. Feaster left him nothing but a couple forward prospects while the defence, goaltending, and right handed shot cupboards were bare. He leaves the Flames with defence depth, a top goalie prospect, and plenty of right handed shots will also having our best centre depth since the early 90s. My only criticism was he sometimes moved too fast to fill these holes but overall the Flames are in a much better position today than when he took over.
I'm worried Treliving will be historically remembered like Al Coates. A competent leader who build a good foundation only to see their successor ruin most of it.

It seems like he’s been very supportive, and a genuine friend of, the Snow family.

I wavered on him a lot but I think he worked hard and ultimately represented the flames well. I also think he would’ve been the best person to clean up his own mess so it really sucks he was given the door now. I’m sure he’ll land on his feel as President, somewhere.

Thanks Brad. Fun 9 years in many ways. It is time for a change. But I will miss him, such a well spoken man and easy to listen to.

He did a lot of good for the franchise. Some bad moves among the good, but it seems clear he meant a lot to people in the organization and that must have been earned by his quality of interaction with people.
Before him, who was the last GM we had that really put it all on the line to go for a big win? That's what sports is about. He may have lost, but how can anyone not respect his willingness to stretch his arm out and reach for it? I feel he lost with dignity in the role and in walking away still has reason to hold his head high.

Good luck in Toronto Brad.
Sorry you had to deal with this puzzling franchise.
Great human, very personable, enjoyed the few times I was able to engage with him in person.

Seems like a genuinely compassionate person, and by all appearances a consummate professional who made a fan proud to support the team. He likely deserves better than what he received here, and wish him prosperity and autonomy in his next endeavor.

I don’t think it’ll take long for people to start missing Tree. If it’s in fact true that ownership has been as overbearing as it seems, then we were lucky that a guy of Brad’s caliber even hung around as long as he did. Quality dude who I actually think is a good manager, and I’m choked he’s out of here. Even just to hear the guy speak to the media was like salve for the soul in comparison to somebody like Bean yesterday.
He also appeared on Kelsie Snow’s podcast a couple years back, which is a good listen for anyone wanting a bit more insight on Tree’s investment in individuals and the dynamics of that whole situation in the office. Anyway…blegh.

I think Dubas should be looking over his shoulder even if the Leafs get into the 2nd round as with Treliving on the market I feel nothing other than a deep playoff run may be good enough for him to keep his job. The one thing about Treliving is that everyone knows that he would have no issues going in there and making the bold moves that Dubas has largely avoided trying to win with that group.

Brad was good at a lot of things (e.g. drafting, trading, RFA signings, and general professionalism), but it's really hard to overlook how poor his coaching selections were.
He assembled some good teams though. His legacy probably gets close to matching Fletcher's if he doesn't hire GG or promote Ward.

Absolute class act with how quickly and efficiently he handled the Peters situation. That was his best moment as a Flame and he was a class act during a very difficult circumstance.

Thanks for the memories, Mr Wizard. Brad Treliving will be one of my favourite GMs and people that have represented the Flames. Good luck with wherever you go.

Right? I don't get it, its like flames fans want to be mediocre so in that sense, ownership is doing nothing wrong then.
The guy made these moves, never won more than 1 second round game and people are sad to see him go, low standards i guess as flames fans...
Signs Kadri and Hubderau and just bounces a year later
Wonderful UFA signings and buyouts, brouwer, neal, raymond, bouma, etc
Amazing goalie acquisitions Elliot, Smith, Hiller, etc
Acquired Milan Lucic!
Amazing trade for Hamonic, ONLY a first and 2 2nds
Traded how many first round picks?
Fired 4 coaches at least
Spent to the cap every year

A quick glance at the thread title and what OP wrote about this being a positivity thread seems to be lost on a few here. Go to the big BT thread if you want to bash him. Some of us here appreciate having a GM who wasn't a complete sociopath or narcissist, who cared about his staff and the city, and genuinely worked his ass off each and every day to better the team. We can debate all day long the merits of that, but overall he represented the city like a true ambassador and if the stars align 20 years from now and he's refined his craft, I'd love to see him back.
I've cheered for players who have left on other teams, but this will be the first time I wish a departing GM the best of luck on another team. Dude was dealt a #### sandwich of some kind seemingly every season and he handled it like a pure pro.
Watch him go to an organization that actually has their office in order and is a desirable destination and I think you'll see him flourish.
Best of luck to him.
