Yup, his interview in the Calgary game he admitted he was having a very hard time getting into the game. And the question was almost inviting the opposite response - that he'd refound his love for it.

Toews is still a force in the faceioff dot, can still pass and skate, and still has great vision. I could see him as a 3rd line center to check the opponent's top guys. I am guessing one more season, probably in his home town, Winnipeg, then a one day contract to retire as a Blackhawk.
He's had a good run in Chicago, but, his playing style was more wearing than, say, Kane's, who appears to have less of a drop off due to age.

Still a butthole decision to defend the dinosaurs that allowed the sexual assault to precipitate.
Hopefully Jonathan reflected on that just little bit.
He's a guy you want to root for. But hard to condone that stupidly.

He was born in and brought his first cup to Winnipeg. Could possibly look into a hometown retirement deal.
Could get back with Kane in New York.
His mother is from Quebec and he's Bilingual, so maybe he looks into the Habs/Habs phone him up.

There is no guarantee Kane stays with the Rangers.

If he can still score in the shootout, I would take him for that alone.

I’m not sure if you guys have experience with long covid or not, but I highly doubt he’s lost his passion for the game. It’s much more likely he literally can’t compete anymore. My wife has been disabled by long covid. It’s nearing a year and a half since she got sick and she’s unable to do much of anything anymore. Even a walk in the park or doing dishes tires her out and she’s in bed for the rest of the day.
Her birthday was last weekend and I pushed her through Butchart Gardens in a wheelchair.

It will come down to his health and how he feels. Now if I was to guess I'd say he chooses to retire and take a position inside the Hawks organization.

"The thought of playing for another team right now is so far in the back of my mind right now, especially after that moment. I always thought I’d retire a Blackhawk and part of me still believes in that, so we’ll see." Jonathan Toews during pregame interview on 4/13.

He just about had the story book ending as well. Just before they got scored on he had a breakaway from center on in. Puck just trickled past the post.

Am I the only one surprised by how little notice the Hawks gave here? I get the new GM's trying to make his mark, but is this not disrespectful to the captain who got them three Cups?

There is only one thing about the Blackhawks that was disrespectful during his tenure as captain.
