40 years old here, lost my dad two weeks ago. While he's been unwell for a sometime it hasn't been easy, I find myself almost texting him about random stuff at least twice a day. Heart goes out to this kid, losing your father at such young, is such an uneasy fashion can't be anything but difficult.

Can someone explain to me why this is considered sus? Isn't it possible he was mugged/murdered or is there a conspiracy angle i'm missing here?

Unexplained circumstances, missing for two days. What other math do you need?

The fact that people are being constantly disappeared in Russia or experience mysterious heart attacks or accidental defenestrations since the Invasion of Ukraine.

Complete conjecture on my part, but could they have been working on a way to get Matvei out of Russia and into the NHL (or even to attend the draft?) that didn't sit well with someone?

Regardless, absolutely devastating for the kid. My heart breaks for him.

Well the last thing he said was “I’ll be right back” - seems weird he’d abandon his son, don’t it?

Again. People get killed for non conspiracy reasons all the time. I'm just wondering if there's anything linking him to a death by government. Like did he speak out against the war? Did his son?

Your perspective, priorities, personality ... and probably a few more P words change instantly and are never the same.

Same with when I lost my son. Not only am I not the same person as I was before, but I feel like I don't even know that guy. I couldn't imagine going through something like that at a much younger age. Hope Michkov finds a way to move on

Sorry to hear that. Lost both my parents in my 20's. But have always believed that kids are supposed to burry their parents, not the other way around. I also have 4 kids of my own and just think of my Grandma that lost 2 of her daughters a few years apart.

Honestly, yep, it sure seems that way from my cozy seat here in rural Alberta.

I don't want to dredge up all the controversy over Russian players, such as Ovechkin not distancing himself from Putin, or the few Russian players not wearing Pride jerseys .... but maybe they have thier solid enough reasons, given what may/might/could happen to their loved ones in Russia. I guess I just dredged it up. So please, lets not dreail this thread.

I just wish we wouldnt be so quick to be judge, jury and executioner towards Russian players for some choices we may not agree with. Because, what I see from here, clearly, is that they may have to deal with a completely different reality than we understand here in North America.

Unfortunately when it comes and you've never experienced any kind of loss like that, especially your parents, who are your #1 supporters and confidants in life, its just a pain that you can't just shake off. Prayers to you and your family.

I'm not a dad so I can't even begin to understand what that feels like. I do know what you mean about not recognizing yourself after a big loss in life. I recognize it myself and so does my family, I don't have the same spirit, but its very difficult to going back to your regular self, impossible even, even though you understand you've changed. Prayers brother.

Losing my mother when I was 18 made me a better person, and a better future parent.

It resets your priorities and makes it abundantly clear how finite everything is. You live in the moment more and plan less.

Have a great relationship with my 21 and 19 year old kids because of losing the most important person in my life when I was young.

Hopefully this poor kid takes it as fuel, and has a great life and career.

For such a terrible topic, reading this thread has been one of the more cathartic and peaceful things I’ve experienced in a while. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences.
